It's what makes the sport so great.

You can't be heavyweight and lightweight.

There's no silver bullet.

I'll say the most dominant thing in the league right now though is an enormous, athletic OL like the Lions have. That's a factor no matter if your team is run or pass heavy. Big Offensive Lines frustrate defenses.

What fukking safety or cornerback can do anything about this when these offensive linemen break the 2nd level?

Yeah a good OL is and has always basically defined what your offense can do. Which why I believe offense looks so shytty the in the 1st month, with reduced fully padded practices they are not getting enough reps anymore. They all need to know and understand exactly what the man next to them is doing as well as their own job. They have to function "in concert "

First, it’s a dumbass take and anybody who has watched football as he claims to should be slapped for saying something like that. The underlying thing he’s saying is casual fans don’t like smart football that isn’t flashy. If you want flashy plays all the time go watch CFB.
It’s like casual that watch boxing and only want to see prime Mike Tyson. With their, Mayweather is a runner, Fury only jabbing with his long arms etc

He wants to handcuff defenses EVEN MORE to make qb play look like the air outs of the 90's.
But in the 90's the defense was 100 free and the offense found strategies to air shyt out.
Realistically, the NFL wants this as well. Fantasy football/gambling is big business. If Goodell had his way, every game would look like that game they call the best game ever, the 54-51 Chiefs/Rams game in Mexico

Both the NFL and NBA want defense stifled so shyt looks sooo fast paced. :francis:

The fact that the average NFL qb isn't just airing shyt out like a video game says a lot, considering everything is done to curb the defense now.:francis:

I love a good defensive struggle, a great 17-13 game. I understand why they don't want that anymore though.

Big facts very few schools actually run the ball like say a Michigan or Georgia bama last year or even Texas under sark. It’s a lot of those spread one read offenses or the ones I hate most which is Tennessee offense with those god awful splits it’s like playing offense if freshman mode
That’s why I would always draft a Wisconsin lineman. The team culturally plays Smash Mouth, so their linemen come in ready.

But with the spread offenses, everyone plays like D’Brickashaw Ferguson. Decent pass protectors but low on pushing someone back 10 yards

Another thing we need to give credit to is how much better defensive backs are compared to the past. My son is now playing corner and the shyt that I teach him that I’m learning was not around when I was playing football. It’s like everyone saw Darelle Revis and created a textbook around how to cover.

These defensive backs are so much more technically sound. I was showing some 80s and 90s footage to my son and his friends and they kept remarking how bad some of the defenders were in coverage and tackling, pointing out their flaws. And each time, they were 100% right. And these are highschoolers.

These corners are so much better now. Defensive players are so much better now

That’s a great comparison breh :whoo:

I’d also add in people who say the UFC shouldn’t allow grappling cause they don’t like watching it.

Just like the NFL right now you adapt or die :manny:it’s part of the game and if you can’t beat it either get better or quit playing

If your opponent is good at grappling you better be working on escapes and countering submissions

I love chess. I didn't care for the last 3-5 years with the passing explosion. Bring back the run! Bring back Defense!

If I were 95, Chubb would have to see me after the game.
