Watched it today...

Movie was alright, not bad IMO just a a little too long...

As far as the outrage in the article... If you're offended by the "red, white, and burrito" line from Brawl In Cell Block 99... that's about as deep the racist dialogue gets in this movie. There's def some right wing-ish ideology sprinkled in it, but I don't think it warranted an article calling it a "right wing fantasy". The article makes it sound like it's a new age Death Wish movie when it's nowhere near that... This movie is a heavy nod to 70's crime movies.

So is the movie about police brutality or is it a right wing fantasy? Because if it acknowledges police brutality, that means it aconowledges that it is wrong so that makes it difficult to be a fantasy.

I hope you are joking... If not, heaven help you. If you are serious and think brutality cannot be right wing police fantasy then you probably have a problem understanding why the Punisher appeals to the same right wing fukkheads.

Sounds like the real issue is that Mel Gibson of all people is is involved. He's not in the position to be involved in such a movie of this subject, but he's the type of person that would do it.

From what the articles are saying, the cops are a$$holes and are depicted as such. Everybody else seems to be complaining that they are given some motivations in the film to be racist (the daughter being harrassed) even though any sane person would not deem that justifiable. But what kind of movie would it be if they were completely flat dumbasses who just hated to hate instead of took some realistic grievances and amplified them to an absurd extent?

To be fair, I haven't seen it, but the revieswers are throwing around the most ornate words to insult it while acknowledging that it's not entirely indulgent to the alt-right.

My point was that the display of police brutality is not automatically a promotion of it.

You could tear apart American History X for promoting racism and nazi ideology because the story shows the reasons how two brothers turned racist (their father was killed by a black man) and the curb stomp is merely retaliation for the guy trying to steal his truck. After the prison stint both brothers question their racist beliefs, and are punished for it when the younger one is killed a black kid he had a small confrontation with the day before.

That is how you can explain the movie and I am sure MAGA fools could get that exact message from it, but everyone with a brain can watch it and see that the tone and storytelling of the movie is clearly used to condemn nazi ideology.

While I doubt this film takes a hard stance against police brutality since it is a throwback exploitation flick, I am just saying that even if an excessive police force is a fantasy in the minds of delusional right wing nutcases, showcasing police brutality is not automatically playing into that fantasy.
