X and Jay for 98 and 99 could go neck and neck but people always felt like X had it more on lock with the masses even if the hustler types rocked with Hov more

Bigger and Deffer is the second studio album by American rapper LL Cool J. It was released on May 29, 1987, by Def Jam Recordings and Columbia Records1. The album was a commercial success, going triple platinum and becoming one of the most successful hip-hop albums to that point2. It showcased a young artist who was successfully elevating his game to the next level2.

This is with no radio except weekend mix shows.. no social media. Only music video outlets and black monthly publications. This is unreal stats. 👏

Although 96 was a successful/breakout year for Nas, BIG was still the top dog, without an album out. Also, he was apart of the biggest beef at the time with PAC. I say 95 & 96 goes to BIG. 97 Puff (I do agree). 98 X. 99 is Jay.
Why wouldn’t Big get 97 as well :patrice:

He was the king posthumously
