floyd-guerrero did not do a milly...it was a ppv that flopped with casuals and boxing heads...no one talked about this ppv before or after...showtime did not make the ROI needed from all the money they spent promoting the shyt..so thats why they had to pick a still green Canelo with his mexican fanbase, the largest in boxing, in order to sell and recoup some money and then some..after that Floyd-Maidana took place due to the fact Maidana took the zero of a notable fighter that casuals know in a great fight...a far better fight than what canelo-trout was...why didn't that sell like floyd-canelo?...because maidana does not have a casual fanbase....there were people here who didn't even know who maidana was before he fought broner...and that PPV underperformed like the floyd-guerreroone which is worse because they had khan and broner on in non descript fights which they shelled money out on.

and I don't know if you ever watched a Floyd ppv but you see the celebs whom im sure most are casual are shelling out money for those seats...you dont see them on FNF or fox sports cards lol..as far as I know only rosie perez is the only celeb that's a true boxing head thaty ive seen rep boxing to the point where she watches every damn fight from the small cards to the big ones

You sound silly, Floyd and Guerrero did do 1 million buys

Canelo is the new face of the sport, he's a pop star in Mexico, be serious

casual boxing fans never heard of him until he fought Floyd, and the mexican fans are not casual fans they love this shyt

Maidana 2 is happening because people think he can beat Floyd or was robbed, you ever said he roughed up Floyd, people think maidana as chance of winning

he floyd swept every round, this fight would not be made

outside of Floyd and Manny, the causal don't know about any other fighters in the division

you can sell anything to casuals by PROMOTING THE EVENT, casuals get sold on the EVENT itself not the fighters, its just something to do that night for them

The offical numbers for Guerrero and Floyd is 1 million

first off anything over 800 is a great for a boxing fight, people don't tune in for the undercard, epeciallly casuals

Broner's never headline and PPV, and I can't remember the last time Kahn headlined a PPV

The Maidana 2 is happpening because people think Maidana won and Mayeather got a gift

its as simple as that, and the fight will be much bigger this time, because peopole believe in Maidana now

When it comes to ppv buys they do

Not really, the buy depending on how the Event is marketing, because outside of the marque name they don't know anyone else

casual american boxing fans have no idea who canelo was, but one the promotion go rolling they found out more about him and how he's the man in mexico

yeah the only Floyd showtime ppv that did over a milly was the canelo fight..thats it..that ppv was where Floyd got a rude awakening on his ppv importance

That was speculation, the official numbers were 1 million, the article came out before the numbers even came out

besides 870,000 is not bad especially with Guerrero who didn't have a prayer

if they are selling casuals the event tell me why Floyd-guerrero underperformed then? :patrice: because Floyd and company did a shytload of cross promotion
canelo is a new face of the sport not the new face and you're agreeing with me on his fanbase so whats there to be serious about :russ:..his fanbase > ghost's non existent one..duh
Floyd-guerrero did 870K..thats not a milly :umad:

and there's too much focus on ppv buys anyways..its the fights that make the card...none of Floyd's showtime ppvs were close to being the best card of the year or had any fight of the year candidates on them..and ppv buys is part of the reason why Floyd is in the stupid situation that he is in with choosing opponents..too much focus

870,000 is a excellent number for any ppv, forget Showtime turning a profit. When you look at the available fights for September this made the most sense, a lot of you dudes assumed the first time around it was gonna be a cake walk and it wasn't. While I think Floyd wins again it's still gonna be a tough fight because he is gonna make Floyd be more offensive minded which put Floyd hands in danger, its obvious now Floyd picks his spots with his punches and these Judges have shown they reward the fighter who is the more aggressive regardless if he is landing or not.

Underperformed in ccmparison to what?

He's not Cotto, He's not Canelo he's Robert Guerrero, what cross promo are you talking about

The official numbers are 1 million, that EPSN writer was wrong, in his article he didn't even say those numbers were offcial that' why he speculated
and even if the numbers were 870k, that's still very good for any event
just because its lower than the other fights doesn't make it a failure

Canelo as a real fanbase not a casual fan base, what are you smoking

Floyd is fighting Maidana because people thought he the fight was close, I didn't after watching it again
but most people don't watch fights twice, so in the minds of the publc Floyd barely won, that' the narrative

I see why they would make the fight again because this fight will be north of 1 milion buys

you act like Floyd does't have two more fights on his contract afterwards, it's plenty of time to build a thurman/porter confrontation

It is a running joke in Dan Rafael's chats about how Showtime inflates their PPV's recently (Stephen Espinoza) to not have to address their financial failure.

800k is a ton for a PPV, but for the contract Floyd has they need to average a million plus to really feel good about the deal.

And all trusted sources outside Showtime say about 875k-890k was the right numbers for the Guerrero fight.

Showtime said 900k for Maidana, insiders outside Showtime said 850k, which leads to a good estimate of 875k for Maidana.

The Canelo fight has really been the big one. Many speculate that Canelo's team wanted to wait a year for Mayweather, but Showtime pushed the fight after the disappointing Guerrero numbers.

Casual fans don't dictate shyt in boxing,

Maidana wasn't suppose to beat Broner and he did, now he has two fights against floyd

Thurman and Porter fight each other, the winning is guaranteed a fight against mayweather

Thurman .s. Floyd, or Manny would do numbers off the strength of the stars fighting a dangerous puncher

if I have feeling porter will give kell brook a beating to the add to his highlight reel

Cotto and Floyd for the Middlweight belt will do numbers, because of he historic ramifications

the fact its a weight floyd's never fought at, and the fact Cotto looked good in the first fight
they actually do
