LOL this dude is essentially trying to distract from the fact that the fat nutjob who shot up the train

- got away for over 24 Hours

- more than likely knew that those bullshyt cameras didn't work

- evaded police in Sunset Park and made it all the way to Manhattan, more than likely by taking the train

- turned HIMSELF in

And all the while begging for more money for the NYPD.

He knows damn well he and the NYPD look like fools, so he's deflecting to street crime which is a result of poverty, which is a result of the very systemic racism perpetuated by the people he rubs elbows with, the CACs who gentrify and displace neighborhood after neighborhood in this city, shoring up the opportunity for them and their families all while keeping the Black people out of the whole equation :russ:

I agree, but I'll say this we do have an issue in our community where we praise the bottom tier rather that be entertainment or in the streets.
We don’t control the record labels. Here is a perfect example of how powerless we are in representation. Do ya’ll remember when Stern who ran the NBA said no more baggy clothes and nba players became fashionistas and then quiet as kept fashionable, better cut clothing became popular? We don’t control the images that are praised or highlighted in our communities. A bunch of white people and Jewish people mostly do and what they do is based on the lowest common denominator to sell, sell, and sell.

The streets are highlighted because it’s easy to sell their allure to white teens trying to be tough and black teens tend to follow because financial success at a young age is appealing. Those white teens, Arab teens, and Asian teens like the same rappers and athletes too. That has nothing to do with generational poverty mixed with easier access to guns.

Eric Adams is a buffoon trying to take attention away from the last 24 hours which is possibly one of the lowest days I have ever seen from the mayor and the NYPD. Instead of this a$$hole talking about how the train station the shooting at didn’t have cameras. He wants to blame violence on black people. fukk Eric Adams, this is bait for the City-Data crowd and AM radio.

Above the fray.
A backlog that mostly effects low-level, non-violent offenders isn't wasn't causing the spike in violent crime. VIOLENT OFFENDERS STILL ARE PRIORITIZED AND ARE STILL BEING SENT TO JAIL.

Here is a timeline of the most recent actions involving the issue of BAIL by NY STATE Legislature

Bail reform measures, signed April 2019, enacted Jan 2020

Amendments to bail reform measures Signed April 2020 enacted July 2020

==========================
Summary of the Amendments
Bail Reform Amendments

Bail Reform Amendments

S.7506-B/A. 9506-B (Part UU)

Expands the list of offenses that are “qualified offenses” (bail eligible) to include, among others: any crime alleged to have caused the death of another person; criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, strangulation 2nd, unlawful imprisonment 1st (all when committed against member of same family or household); assault 3rd or arson 3rd as a hate crime; a felony committed while on probation or released on supervision; a felony or class A misdemeanor involving harm to an identifiable person or property while the person is ROR’d or released under conditions on separate felony or class A misdemeanor involving harm to an identifiable person or property. Increases the list of potential conditions under which an arrestee may be released under non-monetary conditions, to include: refrain from contact with certain people; mandatory programming; obey an Order of Protection; obey other conditions set by court relating to the safety of a victim of a family offense. Requires the chief administrator of the courts, in conjunction with DCJS, to collect detailed data and report regarding pretrial release and detention.

Signed: April 3, 2020 Chapter 56 – Budget Bill: Part UU
Effective: July 2, 2020.
Amends: Multiple sections of the Criminal Procedure Law; §216 of the Judiciary Law, by adding a new subdivision 5; and Executive Law by adding a new section 873-u.
===================
Four months after bail reform measures became law, they were amended to EXPAND the original list of bail-able offenses.

The law being enacted coincided with the pandemic and some criminals being let out for covid/ health fears. So dudes who previously would have been held on bail and covid released guys hit the streets roughly at the same time.

Bail Reform laws amended within four months.

Comparing street crime/criminals to police/police abuse is silly, because only one is an official entity.

What does it even mean to hold "our own" accountable here wrt crime? What preventive measures should everyday folks take to prevent being victimized by people inside our communities?
Apparently law abiding citizens are supposed to get out of their bed at 2am (for free) to go patrolling the streets looking for violent degenerates to preach to while the cops making $100k/year to do exactly that do nothing.

Notice he didn’t say “I’m allocating x amount of dollars towards a BLACK community watch program in the most violent areas” they never suggest actual tangible policy when it comes to black people.

Notice how when we want actual tangible policies it’s “minority, urban, black and brown, black and Hispanic, underserved communities, etc” but when it comes to finger wagging and blaming, black people are all of sudden our own stand-alone group.

We gotta stop killing eachother mang.

1. He's an ex cop saying this
2. You don't really see protests when it comes to black on black crime because cops will catch who did it 98 percent of the time with Justice being served

@Luke Cage
You’re wrong. Crime is up everywhere because criminals are home

Here’s the mayor of mObile actually discussing it and providing numbers

.
The concerns expressed by Stimpon, Prine and others focused on a backlog of court cases awaiting jury trials in Mobile County. Some of those cases were stalled during the COVID-19 pandemic, but city officials say that 142 murder cases are awaiting a grand jury and 193 murder cases are awaiting a jury trial.

“We have 345 untried murder cases,” Stimpson said. “Many of these people are walking the streets today. The lack of speedy trails emboldens criminals.”
‘Criminal justice system is broken’: Mobile mayor, police chief say backlog of cases contributing to recent crime spree

You’re talking about what happens AFTER. And you are correct. But I think he’s asking why these killings happening so much in the first place and the same energy to combat it as when a racist cop does it is not there.

Anybody who says our community attempts to hold our own as accountable as we do the police is a fukkin liar. That’s not a black thing, every “group” has a problem holding their own accountable. Every race, cops, the Catholic Church, politicians…everybody has this problem.
How do law abiding citizens hold criminals accountable?

We have Coli posters who oppose BLM. We have Coli posters who oppose discussing what is happening in our communities. We have millions of Americans who oppose BLM. We have All Lives Matter supporters who oppose BLM. We have Americans who support All Lives Matter but are silent when a Black person is killed by those who swore to protect them. We have Americans who support All Lives Matter, but are silent on what is happening in our communities unless it is to use what is happening in our communities to counterattack against a BLM supporter. Damn, there are a lot of sides.

Can anyone here get more specific about their issues with his comments here?
It's bullshyt. I don't know a single person who is outraged when black people are killed by cops but is completely fine when black people are killed by another black person. And neither do you. Or anybody else here.

So why can't we acknowledge larger systemic issues along with some of the cultural shyt at play? Of course better education funding would help. But I can't imagine how depressing it's gotta be to believe black people have no agency in the type of lives we lead. It's weird to see yall make these fatalistic threads about race relations day in and day out but then expect that same oppressor to redress every inequality through policy. :hula:. Make up your minds.
My question was more rhetorical, though I’m assuming most of those asking the questions he posed aren’t doing so in good faith. I think we can both acknowledge our cultural deficiencies and highlight how a lack of resources in the black community has led to this cultural rot.

It’s the uncomfortable question that we’re never wanting to answer.

Black people need to be more accountable for the violence in our own community.

Edit* BLM is more for police and white supremacy. But shouldn’t be mutually exclusive for inter-racial violence.

There are community activist that organize shyt all the times in communities stop buying the lies of these crackas .

It's not about being "fine" with it..

It's about realizing you might not get that Cadillac commercial if you get your hands dirty with certain issues...

These "activists" are more "in-tune" with the streets, but how come the mayor was the nikka to at least dialogue with these drill artists before the "activists"?

But a cop does something on the other side of the country and they there the next day:dwillhuh:
