i know I'm supposed to find Vin Diesel imposing and intimidating, but i don't. as soon as they brought the Rock into the F&F movies, it was like "oh, Vin Diesel really isn't that tough, is he?"

Character Breakdowns for Marvel's The Inhumans Confirm Royal Family - MCUExchange
Broderick: Male. 30-40. Caucasian. Can say volumes with just a look. Strong, thoughtful and private, he’s unaccustomed to being questioned or feeling a need to answer to anyone, to an extent that can verge on arrogance. Series regular.

This is Blackagar Boltagon, Inhuman King and one of Marvel’s most powerful characters.

Marjorie: Female. 30-40. Caucasian. An elegant and intelligent advisor to her husband, she struggles to find her place outside of their relationship, as others tend to view her as just a pretty face. Strong and resourceful, she’s not afraid to break the rules when the situation demands it. Series regular.

Medusa Amaquelin, Inhuman Queen and one of the wives of Black Bolt (though the only one he truly loves). She is best known for her red, prehensile hair and powerful personality in the face of adversity.

Marty: 30-40. Caucasian. Broderick’s younger brother; he is intelligent, charming, and articulate. He comes across as a man of the people but secretly covets power. Series regular.

What you have here is your basic Maximus Boltagon. The brilliant but insane brother of Black Bolt, Maximus the Mad is likely to be the series’ villain and quite possibly the most interesting character of the crew. While you may want to compare this relationship to Thor and Loki, you’d be mostly wrong as these two brothers have very different reasons for their feud. It will be interesting to see if Marvel TV brings the noise with this very poignant background story. Personally, I think they’d be foolish not to.

Karnak.jpg

Kevin: Male. 30-40. Open. Slight of build, his mind is his greatest asset. Always prepared with a plan, his outlook on life is the glass is always half-empty and often cracked and dirty as well. Though his outlook can be grim, he has a droll, dry sense of humor. Series regular.

Karnak Mander-Azur, a warrior monk, cousin to Black Bolt, the Royal Family adviser and one of Marvel’s creepiest and strangest characters. Gifted with the ability to see the flaw inherent in all things, Karnak is capable of single-handedly escaping any situation, including death. Most recently brought to life by the brilliant Warren Ellis and given a large role in training Ulysses in Civl War II, Karnak is a favorite of the MCU Exchange staff and we are very excited to see how he is portrayed here.

Gorgon_Inhuman.jpg

Grady: Male. 25-35. Open. Impetuous and brash, he has serious impulse control issues which frequently get him into trouble whether its women, booze, or fighting. He loves life and lives in the moment for better or worse. Series regular.

Gorgon!! Gorgon Petragon is the head of the Inhumans defenses. He also has weird goaty looking legs with the power to destroy anything he stomps. I love the characterization of Gorgon in the description as, in the comics, he’s aged and grown a little calm. This is a perfect way to introduce Gorgon the the public.

Christine: Female. 18-25 to play 18. Caucasian. Soulful but still learning the ways of the world, she has the arrogance of youth. Impetuous and independent she is also deeply devoted to her family. Series regular.

Crystal Amaquelin, the sister of Queen Medusa and a powerful elemental. Crystal represents a very important piece of The Inhumans story as she is often the one so curious about things outside of Attilan that she finds herself the centerpiece of many stories involving the Inhumans at conflict with others.

triton.jpg

Timothy: Male. 25-35. Open. SFXMU required. Supremely athletic. The ultimate picture of cool. He’s calm under pressure and willing to do anything to get the job done.

Triton Mander-Azur is the brother of Karnak and the only of the Royal Family not included as a series regular. Triton’s early exposure to the Terrigen Mists changed him into an aquatic creature no longer able to breathe air. We assume that the reason he won’t be a series regular is that it’ll take some money to make him look good and the less they use him, the better he can look. Typically seen as a scout or envoy for the group, his fierce nature will hopefully not be overlooked at the expense of his other uses.

This looks like a very traditional take on the Inhuman Royal family. This show is set to be a big event series (given the partnership with IMAX) with set pieces on the Moon and some likely CGI-heavy scenes (hopefully including Lockjaw!). Look for casting videos and rumors to start making the rounds soon and we will keep you on top of all of it!

Disney, Marvel head to Hawaii to film ‘Marvel: The Inhumans’ IMAX movie and TV series
Disney, Marvel Studios and IMAX are planning to develop a headquarters for Marvel’s next major project — a feature film and ABC television series “Marvels The Inhumans” — in a former Navy facility in Hawaii, the head of the state’s film commission confirmed to Pacific Business News this week.

The entire production is expected to create hundreds of jobs in the Isle film industry as well as pump between $80 million and $100 million annually into the state’s economy, rivaling and even surpassing such Hawaii-filmed TV series such as ABC’s “Lost,” and CBS’ current series “Hawaii Five-0.”

“This is a very big deal,” Donne Dawson, commissioner of the Hawaii State Film Office, told PBN. “The production is currently in the process of retrofitting the space as a production space to support the production.”

The space is located in the West Oahu neighborhood of Kalaeloa, the former 3,700-acre Naval Air Station Barbers Point.

The ABC series “Marvel’s The Inhumans,” which is based on the popular comic-book characters, will debut in an IMAX movie before becoming a television series. Navy Region Hawaii has struck a leasing agreement with the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, which oversees the film office, to lease the former Naval Air Station, which is being subleased to the ABC production.

A source close to the situation tells PBN that Jean Higgins, a co-executive producer of “Lost,” which ran from 2004 to 2010, is the producer on the ground for ABC’s latest major Hawaii venture. The Hollywood Reporter reports the series will premiere in September.

The television series will be the first-of-its-kind in the sense that it will be filmed at the same time as the movies. The first two episodes will be shot using IMAX cameras and will be shown in IMAX theaters. In advance of the airing of the TV series, ABC plans to release these IMAX films around September in order to build up excitement for the TV series.

“The real exciting part about this is that it is a huge shot in the arm for the community and surrounding community,” Dawson said. “It’s an absolutely thrilling opportunity for the Kapolei-Kalaeloa-West Oahu area to be a host of a production of the size and magnitude of this one.”

She said that this new facility will be a great addition to Oahu’s film and TV industry, which currently only has one studio — the Hawaii Film Studio at Diamond Head in East Oahu, which is managed by the state’s Film Office and currently occupied by “Hawaii Five-0.”

“The only other option available is to retrofit warehouse space,” Dawson said. “There were not a lot of options like this former Naval facility [in Kalaeloa] that were available. It will have all the components of a film office, such as office space for all departments, space for their props and wardrobes and a mill for set construction.”

She said that ABC and the other major players involved chose to locate its production in Hawaii mainly because of the state’s film tax credit, which sunsets on Dec. 31, 2018. The tax credit is currently set at 20 percent on Oahu and 25 percent on the Neighbor Islands.

“That’s why we’re pushing hard to get it extended,” Dawson said referring to the major economic benefits the state gets from big productions such as the one taking place in Kalaeloa andsuch productions as “Jumanji” and “Jurassic World,” which also filmed in the Islands. “That is why it will be critically important to keep a project like [the Kalaeloa project] engaged. The tax credit is paramount to their decision to come here and their ability to stay here so long as we could get it extended.”

Another reason for choosing Hawaii is Disney’s long-standing relationship between The Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) and Hawaii that dates back to the 1960s, according to Dawson, who said that the Burbank, California-based media giant has always appreciated filming in the Islands. Disney’s “Moana” prominently featured Hawaii, and the voice of its main character Aulii Cravalho, is a Kamehameha Schools student.

“We have a great relationship with Disney and ABC,” Dawson said. “This is a very high-profile and exciting project coming to Hawaii.”

Plans have been in place for a Kapolei film studio for many years, although nothing has been able to come to fruition.

“If we had not been able to do this deal with Navy Region Hawaii, there is a high probability the production would not be able to land here,” Dawson said. “Their facility was unused and the space is ideally suited.”

The facility is currently being built-out with filming expected to start in March and September scheduled as the month for the premiere of the “Inhumans” IMAX films. The TV shows are scheduled to follow the IMAX movies.

Created by comic book legends Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the Inhumans are a fictional race of superhumans featured in Marvel Comics.
