Still FloW
Gawd Of Shinobi
Im all for this and even tho it feels a lot like pandering, at least RIRI will get some shine
I honestly enjoy reading titles from those decades than the newer stuff. That's great that they want to have some black women representing (Monica Rambeau ), but I think they're better off putting more focus on already established black characters like T'Challa, Storm, and Luke Cage, as well as coming up with new characters and letting them shine instead of piggybacking off of the old white dudes. Especially when you know those new characters are status when they inevitably end up coming back. I'm in agreement that it makes things way too inaccessible for fans of the movies and longtime readers, and it clutters up the universe like crazy, and it feels a bit lazy just to ride the coattails of more established characters.
Then again, I only really follow the OG Marvel eras of the 60's, 70's and 80's, so Imma just let my opinion be taken with a grain of salt and let these new jacks eat
BP is unique in which it would be extreeeeeeeemely difficult to explain why a non-black person, especially a non-wakandan, becomes the new BP and possibly the King/Queen of Wakanda. Wakanda is in Africa and it is generally xenophobic. That alone is a major buffer, narrative wise. The last time BP was replaced, it was by his sister, Shuri, who obviously was a Wakandan and a member of the royal family.
Not to mention, Marvel has already tried replacing T'Challa with a non-Wakandan biracial dude named Kasper Cole during the Priest run. Those sales were straight up . I doubt Marvel will ever try that again.
Meanwhile, the characters being replaced are located in the US and their race isn't directly associated with the mantles. Hence why Marvel can get away with it. As for Jane-Thor, it was a gender swap, not a race swap.
lol @ RiRi being the name too.
Might as well have called her Beyoncé Minaj from Beyhive, Louisiana.
It's just those little touches that add to the feeling of pandering and inauthenticity.
But I'm a cynic, so where there may be good intentions, I just see the missteps.

I definitely agree with you. I try to support the black superheroe titles on GP but if I'm not feeling the story I'm not feeling it. I try to give Cyborg a chance but not feeling him. Never cared much for the character outside of the Teen Titans but wanted to give his book a shot since he's been retconned as a founding member of the Justice League and will play a big role in DC's future films but his stuff has been wack.I'm all for it as long as the writing is good.
For example; I'm just not feeling (but support) Cyborg, Sam Wilson and Black Panther as of right now.
I haven't checked out the last two Miles Morales runs, either.
Get some good writing.
Oh, diversity means nothing when it's a diversity of exploitation...now a diversity of power let's see some of that
You just know it's going to piss off cacs. You're going to hear more of the same "they're changing all the characters black" even though 95-99% of superheros are white men.
As far as this change I'm getting sick of reboots and relaunches from both companies. We all know Stark will be back as Iron Man in a matter of months. DC and Marvel NEVER keep their big three (Batman, Superman, Wonder, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor) dead or replaced for no more than a year or two.
I do understand and appreciate Marvel and DC trying to bring in more black, hispanic, and strong women characters but you have to do it carefully and not make it so obvious.
What do you think about this Mr. Stark@Ironman
Let's be honest, if a random white woman replaced T'challa as black panther, nikkas would be heated.
Majority of comic book writers are white so of course. You can date who you want but seeing black love in media is refreshing, imo.Prob going to put her together with a white love interest anyway
