Every mega star has had his misses, that doesn't mean stardom is dead, it is simply becoming less common.
DC's failures since MoS have to do with their incompetent creative team. If Marvel can make a bunch of C-list characters like Ant-Man and GotG headline profitable blockbusters movies, they can too. Investing in those properties is only throwing money down the well if they don't know what they're doing.
Well that marvel success proves my point, its the age of properties, not superstars.
No one is opening big on just who is staring anymore, its been that way for a while.
The last superstars were Cruise and Will smith and now even they have lost that good will
I somewhat agree with your point about cruise going back to franchises. But then again MI is a franchise he pretty much created.Tom Cruise knows it, that is why is back to genre films and going with franchises.
There is a reason he is doing Top Gun 2 now, staring in a reboot of The Mummy and went back to Mission Impossible.
Oblivion and Edge of Tommorrow were flops.
Reacher was his success and it only budgeted for 60 mil.
His superstar days are over, industry has changed..
Leo doesn't really have any big blockbusters smashes. he has a lot of critical darling films but no huge trendsetting movies to his name outside of Titanic.
Hell after titanic the best movie he had was with Tom hanks in Catch Me if you can.
Alden Ehrenreich Playing Han Solo is Proof That Movie Stardom is Dead
I'd say dicaprio is truly the last star left. Word to the Revenant
I somewhat agree with your point about cruise going back to franchises. But then again MI is a franchise he pretty much created.
I feel some type of way when people call EoT a flop. It still made 100 milly domestic and 370m ww. I get marketing costs but still
Dicaprio just did 526 million WW with the Revenant. No one else could have done that. It's even more impressive seeing as its the type of movie better suited to have come out in like 1992 instead of 2016.
And Inception did 825M. And was a blockbusterInception haters
The female fan base is going to go wild for this. They been asking for a solo flick for a minute now.
Marvel Studios 'Committing' to a Black Widow Solo Movie
