Because of Marvel having the money problems they did they sold off characters Sony buying Spider-Man is the reason why there’s those special PS games from years past. Marvel sold pretty much the rest to universal studios. In the Florida theme parks Universal used the marvel characters to build a marvel world in the 90’s that was both inspired heavy by the comics and the cartoons at the time. There was an agreement where if Universal used a character in their park no park east of the Mississippi could use said character so of course everyone knows that universal has the Spider-Man ride and that Hulk coaster. Parks west of the Mississippi can’t even use the word Marvel.
Now Disney went and brought Marvel in 2009 but the agreements from before still matter so that’s why they can’t really do as much core Marvel shyt so when Guardians became popular they announced a whole Guardians ride in Orlando. Why this matters is because in 2019 Disney had 21 million visitors to the Magic Kingdom in Orlando And moving forward Marvel will be where most of their future ideas will come from because most of the Disney stuff is from the past and their more newer characters are so niche. The parks make so much money but as time goes forward new things have to be added but it’s hard this is one of the reasons why the movies of the future could possibly be more backloaded since Disney brought Fox who purchased the X-Men from Marvel.
Knowing these things it makes sense why for years Marvel would make up superpower X-Man and fantastic four like groups from the Immortals to the Enterals up as place holders or substitutes for them.
It’s why there wasn’t a “Marvel Disney Spider-Man” Sony and Disney made an agreement that got Spider-Man in the movies and I think it was a four movie deal but they could’ve re-upped.
It’s partly why Hulk was so nerfed in the Avenger movies and they never gave him another movie.
The other weird thing was that situation with the Quiksilver in the X-man movies and the one in the Avenger movie.
So with most things it leads to racism especially when we consider how little Black Panther got in the movies then how muted even in his movie his character was. Add in where we are now where the next black hero in Blade keeps getting pushed back similar to things that dropped off the face of the planet while other movies came and had sequels it’s a bad look.
So we’ve gone from characters who weren’t the hottest being boosted up out of necessity put in a hierarchy above ones that they shouldn’t be (Spider-Man is the most relatable hero but Superman and Batman had a near 30 year head start) to now all of that even being pushed aside for social justice work movies where it’s always somehow the woman is the strongest ever ( the Marvel cac lady) to even Thor 4 we know for a fact that somehow his girl gets his powers. (The Thor 3 Villain was the strongest in the universe since the last that happened to be a woman)
The Superhero movies pre 2005 were shyt on so much but did a lot that started where we are so for Marvel Iron Man was technically the first movie thing is RDJ wasn’t the first choice to play Iron Man especially since he was a druggie. Terrance Howard was paid between 3.5 and 4.5 Million to play Rhodes who down the line would be War Machine in addition to a raise if they made another one. They also signed him to other movies RDJ gets hired because Howard begged him (took a pay cut too) and the movie pops as they write Iron Man two they cut his role down to just a million.
As time went on RDJ got more money because of more movies and he started getting points. It’s rumored for Avengers Endgame alone he made any where from 50 million to 100 Million. The first Avengers movie netted him 70 million to 80 million.
Iron man ain’t Batman and he sure as hell ain’t no Spider-Man.
