OG Blade was only immune to Vampire bites...he was still half-hum and half-vamp.

Goyer apparently wrote his arc in the Spider-Man TAS that gave him the "all of their strengths, none of their weaknesses" that became the basis of the movies. He didn't get the powers in the books until after the movies, during some arc in which Morbius bit him..or something like that, it's been a while...and then he gained the powers.

Yep, he was called blade because he just good with knives. And he liked to dress like he hung out with Basquiat. Wesley Snipes was the best thing to happen to that character

Marvel stole Goyer's written take and put it in Spider-Man TAS without permission. Whistler was created by Goyer and New Line & Goyer was going to sue but they were able to work it out.

Also, it was Snipes that would keep Goyer's writing in check, there are times when Blade was written to do something (Like cry in the first movie when he saw his mother, and in part 2 Blade was supposed to shoot up the Reaper embryos) but Snipes would say that's not something his Blade version would do.
