There are two fan favorite runs were she is considered to have gotten the best character development. But that wasn’t really a knock down on Reed. It’s more than she had been relegated to “chick on the team” as characterization that her getting an actual good character arc partly made the run good.

To me, most FF stories are just plot devices to introduce cool ideas. That’s why so many popular characters debuted in their initial run.
