Bitter af, and it ain't got shyt to do with Marvel making too many movies, they've dropped 3 this year, 7 in total for Disney as a whole and somehow it's THEIR fault that going to the expensive ass movie theater, the cinema has gravitated toward event films in order to justify the rising costs.

I took someone to see Spider-man Far From home and end up dropping like 60 bucks just for two people. I remember back in the day I used to camp out at the dollar show and watch like 2 or 3 movies at a time every month, now it's a 100 dollar MINIMUM for me to even get enough tickets for my whole family to see a movie, I'm not about to pony that up unless the film I'm going to see in some way justifies it.

How is it Marvel's fault for keeping the movie theater experience viable by releasing 2 or 3 films every year that people come out for? If anything, Netflix has changed the viewing tastes of the public, especially for movies that are more intimate and about narrative way more than Marvel has and he's not picking at them about it because he can't justify a 175 million dollar budget anywhere else.

Theaters aren't going to turn away Money or Marvel Studios to stroke your ego, take your ass to Netflix with your 'cinema' while they're still up and running, and check them for their negative impact on theater going while you at it.

wait...people in this thread are actually defending Marvel movies?!? :picard:

Look, those movies are trash...and so are damn near all action movies...

THATS OKAY THOUGH...we all like dumb shyt in different areas of life.

Big budget action movies lack character development, plot, pacing, etc....
...they are the fast food of movies...or what Drake is to rap music.

I crave a big mac sometimes though :yeshrug:

His last comments are actually fair, IF you consider movies (including comic book movies), to be art.

Works the same in the music industry. You can easily say "well the people calling in want that Laffy Taffy so that's what the DJ should play" BUT you can also say 'well the DJ should be an expert in his field and not cater to the masses".
That's basically what Scorcese is (now) saying, that he doesn't want the theatres to let blockbusters dominate them. I'm pretty sure if he would've said this to begin with (and leave out that 'it's not cinema' shyt) nobody would argue.

I think what he's missing out is that theatres can't just turn down the big studios. Quentin Tarantino talked about this when Force Awakens was up against HATEFUL EIGHT.
Apparently Disney was strong-arming studios into giving them a minimum amount of screens under threat of pulling the movie from their theatre completely. I'm sure WB and the other big studios try the same.

Quentin Tarantino Accuses Disney of ‘Extortion’ Over ‘Star Wars’ Booking!

*Yeah I mentioned Laffy Taffy, I grew up in the 90's and haven't listened to the radio in decades :flabbynsick:

One is fast food the other is fine dining get it, but they are both good right. He is acting like he is doing something completely different. I'm just like pump your breaks, it may be better but it is the same thing. He's great at what he does but that doesn't make him The Ultimate Authority on it either.

I get where he's coming from, he wants his types of films to be shown in theaters more but that will not happen till the prices get cheaper. It seems like marvel are the scapegoat for this right now because they're the most popular movies but you need to make event movies to get people out these days.
It's more of some theaters really only show the big budget films but won't show the smaller films. Like my local Regal theater will get the big joints for sure but joints like Birdman, Sorry to Bother You, JoJo Rabbit, Lighthouse... nope :francis: As a lover of film, it pisses me off because I want to experience these types of films in the theater not at home.

:ohhh: That's actually a great point. I didn't really think about that but it's kind of obvious now that I do. I only saw Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in the theater because he's one of the only directors (along with guys like Scorsese, Peele, Nolan, and a few others) that make movies that aren't big budget spectacles that I'll still fork over so much money for to see in the theater. Because you're right, the movie theater experience is getting more expensive. I'm a movie buff and if I feel this way I'm sure the average person does.

I watch a lot of independent/art house movies. I love a good blockbuster, but I need to see something with a solid story that isn't generic. The movies that Jennifer Aniston, and even Jennifer Lopez because she said the same shyt, are generic. I watched Second Act. I enjoyed it, but it was some basic shyt, that is enjoyable when you're stuck in the air for two hours and need something to pass the time. It was a step above a Lifetime or Hallmark Channel movie. Those movies are only going to make but so much money. My mom isn't going to go to the movies to see that. She will watch it at home though. She did go see A Star is Born twice though, at an AMC Dolby Theater.

LOL @ a bunch of dweebs who play video games all day and have a collective IQ of 100 getting salty at the guy who made fukking MEAN STREETS, TAXI DRIVER, RAGING BULL, GOODFELLAS, and CASINO.

Don't get me wrong, he hasn't made a movie worth watching since Casino. If you say "BUT BUT BUT THE DEPARTED!" I am going to ignore your response. :lolbron:
