I need a new style to train in. I need something that is really going to challenge me. I want something that offers me a chance to compete in competitive sparring/fighting too.
I'm bringin my legs closer and twisting less and less on my one arm pushups pistol squats I can't fukk withOn another note, things have been going pretty well. I've incorporated a lot of Pavel Tsatsouline's calisthenics stuff back into my routine (pistol squats, 1arm pushups, greasing the groove), and i'm feeling my strength improve big time.
Highly recommended reading for any martial artist looking to improve maximal strength, neural muscular recruitment, and full body connections without excessive bulking.
They arent new found but yes i have used my skills against demons in the street. The combination of striking and grappling is too much for the average neanderthal to manage. Still, i dont train to fight pathetic scum. I train for the day i meet that dark hearted soul who has used his training for demonic purposes and seeks to harm me or my friends. This is when my true power will be required. Beating up people who are bigger then me who are upset over demonic issues of pride but never trained a day in their life is really not what im here for.

So what, are you trying to compete in MMA or something? Or do you just wanna be good at sparring? And sparring under what rulesets? Whats your previous experience?
I trained in American Kenpo and I used to compete in tournaments. I mostly miss the sparring and competing. This local school teaches muay thai and submission wrestling. Striking is my comfort zone but I think its time to expand.
Oh, well yeah thats good. I did some wrestling in HS and i still know some basic pins and chokes. Takedown training is essential (offense and defense) to me. Even if you're not gonna use wrestling on your own, you gotta at least recognize the intention of your opponent to do so. I like that you're crosstraining that with MT (because a lot of the best striking counters to grapples are knees, elbows)
peace lord have you ever heard of hojitsu-ryu (spelling?) a friend of mind was telling me its like aikido but it also shows you maneuvers to use when a gun could possibly be drawn
I'm gettin legs like David Tua from the Bulgarian squats
Nah why?Did you start training boxing or something?
Just curious, seen you posting about related stuff and calisthenics more i guessNah why?
