For myself, it's learning the different techniques that's for sport and the ones for street

Thats a good way to look at it. I learned Boxing for that reason but realistically I should be able to use many different techniques and methods to be truly balanced and proficient.

That’s why I found myself looking up martial arts from different countries to see what might work for me. I like a lot of them honestly I just want to study and learn and use it for meditative and self defense purposes. I’ll have enough techniques to use for sport or street like you said.

Dont focus so much on technique, remember there's a counter for everything every style. You start worrying about technique then you start thinking and that slows you down.
In krav I use the aggression boxing footwork (dirty boxing, traps e.t.c) muay I use my whole body as a weapon sambo I'm learning to defend take downs better and end fights quicker. Hell I use savate strikes as well. Not to be corny but Bruce said it best be water be formless

Footwork is everything..

Once you got that angle, your instincts take over...

You just gotta find your style...

When I'm doing drills, im kinda sloppy, but once I process it later, i get it...

I'm just wacky like that..:russ:

I’ll say that Boxing is very fun to train in. The footwork in that is crazy. I’m real interested in adding in new stuff.

If a studio for this ever game to DC a nikka would join:

fukk around and be a 6 cert Dhalsim....:wow:

I’m looking into joining this mma gym nearby. They have intro boxing and kickboxing classes.

Question is, should I skip the boxing part and go to an actual boxing gym first for a few months to learn proper technique and footwork? And then join the mma gym later?

I don’t wanna learn bad technique, especially for boxing, this is a “bro” type gym

Have you done research on the mma gym as far as who runs it?

There’s no info on that, the instructors all pretty random as well. Head instructor is a dude who fought for promos in the early 2000s

Yeah the lead instructor is the one you gotta do the heavy research on...because the gym reflects him
And if you can do some 1 day classes to see the "vibe" of the gym, go for it...

Once you lock into a contract, it's hard to get out..

@KingZimbabwe

And watch film on boxers as well so you can fully understand angles and at least have a chance if they want you to do "light:youngsabo:" sparring....

I wasnt a fan of combat sports and I was getting lit up because I had no idea about the science behind it...

Question for boxing heads, what way did you start off doing with jump rope exercises? Did you start with the one, two or did you just start with the basic way?

I'm still itchin to train but an enclosed boxing or mma spot seems like the last place you'd wanna fukk with right now
