Can you speak on Neigong real quick?

and the sparring got the ting jin better?
Neigong is something kinda intermediate/advanced. Think of Neigong as a combined form of meditation, calisthenics, and yoga with a martial intent. It's really not something you should concern yourself with until youve reached a certain level.

Sparring and Neigong helped to grow my ting jin

i dont LOVE this explanation but its aight

how often do you do this and is it as good as advertised?

Several times a day. Thats how it works. Read it. There are PDF's floating round the internet everywhere for that one.

Rilion Gracie | JIU-JITSU ACADEMY

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Westchase TX - Gracie Barra Jiu Jitsu - Westchase Houston TX

Please tap early. A new student came to our academy yesterday and i heard his arm popwhen i arm barred him because he really wanted to not tap. Dont wait to hear your arm pop, to tap. You dont get any stripes for icing your elbow.

Good looks my dude :myman:

Don't have to worry about me tapping out :heh:. I want to get better and learn but I've also got a manual labor type job. Can't be risking any serious injuries.

Two or more guys. In a hand to hand fight probably boxing or muay thai and any other striki g art that focuses on live sparring. You have to take a few things in account though.

Your physical conditioning
The conditioning of your opponents.

If two guys who know bow to fight are attacki g you and your conditioning is shyt you have to pray for one hitter quitters.

If two guys are frail and weak and attacking you in peak physical conditiong they will probably get crushed even if you are not trained.

Fights do not happen like the movies so there is no default scenario for multiple attackers or their intentions. They may want to sta d and bang or take u down n beat u to death.

There is no one martial art that can prep you for this. There is only cross training and enhancing your physical strength and conditioning. If you want to beat the crap out of multiple guys your weight and height and only anticipate having haymakers thrown at u take boxing.

Im a brazillian jiujitsu muay thai practitioner.

For multiple opponents, like mowgli said the best is any striking art. You just cant go to the ground against many. The actual individual art isnt as important as tactics. I've only been in 3 real fights with me vs. more than one person(although I have done controlled 1 v 3 sparring), and I think the most important thing is honestly position. The ironic thing is that fighting as a group takes skill of its own. Oftimes people will get in each others way trying to get at you and cut their own strength in half. You basically wanna be able to have the footwork to position yourself to take them on one at a time, making sure that the angles and path to attack they take are limited and overlap. and you want to basically be striking people as hard and fast as you can, ruthlessly in vulnerable spots, in a controlled fashion. Get your strikes in, then reevaluate and reposition. you wanna minimize the period of time you are striking and recoiling, and by doing so you create less opportunities to be attacked.

Yup. There are some MA that have sets and emphasis on multiple opponent defense, but you're honestly better off learning how to ice one opponent quickly and effectively

Quick question for the BJJ heads, how does it relate to judo? does it incorporate similar technique, would it be a waste of time for an individual to train in both?

Judo is the throwing aspect of Jiujitsu. Depending on different schools, u will probably learn judo in ure jiujitsu class, because if u plan on competing (especially in the gi) Judo is a GIANT part of that. Scariest thing ever is standing across from a Judo guy who u know is about to dump u on ure head

Judo does have techniques for ground work..they spend time on the ground, but not to the extent of BJJ. So u would learn armbars in judo..u would chokes...but the majority of time is spent on throwing

As a complete art, for self defense as well as MMA related work (if ure interested in that) BJJ > Judo all the time

In terms of if u should train in both...I honestly believe the best bet is to dive head first in jiujitsu, and if for some reason ure not getting enough technique in takedowns/throws...ask ure instructor (who if hes a Black belt knows Judo), and go to Open Mat (which most schools have) and drill the shyt out of some high percentage takedowns

Much respect for Judo though, but Jiujitsu is focused on what happens "after" the fight hits the ground, which is where fights are won/loss

The throws are also extremely reliant on the Gi (that they wear)...which doesnt translate greatly into self defense/MMA without the Gi. Some people can definetly transition it and make it work for them...Karo Parysian throws people all the time (or used to)...but he also has really good Jiujitsu to go with that, and hes a rare case
