ive boxed..........

just for kicks went into one of those mixed martial arts classes one day and wrestled this white dude......

they started me on top (no homo) so i immediatly went for what i know........a headlock. that white dude chucked it out in my headlock until i was completly spent......slipped out of it then went to put me in some sh1t so i just tapped out right then.

I know he was mad as sh1t but bump that ...........nikka wasnt bout to L me out

Yep any pure striker moving into an MMA gym for some practice is gonna take a couple L's. I at least had a good sprawl and wrestling basics intact from high school, but im not gonna lie i tapped out a lot for a while there.

Why stop training to avoid the responsibility of teaching? Its not like your teacher can make you teach. Also, whats wrong with mentoring the lower belts who are coming up. You dont like people asking you questions? Did a lower belt prodigy come to your school and run you outta there?

I still train i just don't test. My hands are GoonLike and very demonic so i must be careful with who i teach. i would like it for my offspring to be my first students...

Alot of stances unfortunately are for show and posturing. As if to say *you dont know what im going to do* Unfortunately, many fighters do not have the reaction time of Bruce Lee to defend against explosively quick fighters. I believe this is why you have to always keep those hands up in a defensive position if you are able. This fight here is an example of that. While he was moving his arms around like Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, :ahh: waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa:ahh: he left an easily penetratable hole in defenses.

I think he was already initimidated which is why he faked being more hurt then he actually was. That hook probably took the heart right out of him. Yea you definately gotta make time. Its embarrassing what you can do to the average cat in the street when your striking is crisp. Once you are able to dodge those obvious haymakers and slip straight rights cats get tagged a couple times, realize their life might be on the line and do what the guy in that video did.

Yeah thats what im saying, The dude who threw the hook popped him pretty fast, but honestly i wasnt seeing the full followthrough/torque on it.He caught him with it moving forward with his weight but it wasnt the hardest punch.

That dude's karate was :flabbynsick:, no attempt to exploit a boxer's holes :wow:

If you're gonna strike you gotta condition your hands one way or another.... I'm sticking with heavy bags but when I get better and xingyi i might hit up dale dugas for his jow and start iron palm training.

Been interested in Martial arts for a while.
6'4" 190 pounds and pretty athletic (at least used to).
Did some Aikido way back but forgot like 90% of it.
And been getting flabby from long hours and stress.:flabbynsick:
Still lean, though. At least my metabolism is still high.

Due to my work schedule, I can't really devote more than an 3~4 hours a week.

Should I hit the gym first to get myself back in good shape (thinking about joining a cross fit gym) or should I just go straight to Boxing or Muay Thai?

No one said martial artists can't use a gun either. It's better to be able to handle yourself in close quarter combat AND be able to use guns. This is why the military trains hand to hand combat because even though they'd rather you use the gun, you never know if someone comes at you within range.
