:smh: @ the corny knife dude.

Anyways thread starter has been on point since he started the thread.
Even shooed away a dude who believes in Chi
Edited his posts to hide the shame but it was funny enough with the few quoted ones.

Anyways I took a little Karate when I was younger (Shotokan) I'm planning on taking it
up again, plan on looking at schools in my area that have sparring and such but if that
doesn't work out I do know of a nice little boxing gym that's right around the corner
from where I get my hair cut.
Was thinking of taking classes at one of the MMA schools in my area but they charge out the @ss something like $80 or more a month, if Karate winds up costing more, I'll go with MMA if the boxing classes aren't much cheaper.

Think dudes like Ginchin Funakoshi and Mas Oyama are just too cool.
I mainly want to do martial arts to protect myself but I'd also like to see how
I would fair in the ring.

This footage really shows the effectiveness of the body blow. It really opens up the head to the high kick. Too bad they dont punch in the face in Karate but these body blows really make cats put them hands down then its. Pow. Lights on. Glad i can kick high

Brotha in the end.:smugdraper:

I know, its not mas oyama.

Great book on misconceptions in kung fu, the current state of traditional martial arts, finding the right teacher, how to go about training martial arts for results. Stellar book, Even if you're not into kung fu, it is at least very interesting regarding TMA, and is an honest account from a TMA guy who has actually studied with many reputable masters- The extremely bad ass Liu Yun Qiao among them. Highly recommended for anyone even considering finding instruction in the traditional martial arts, it will help you avoid a lot of nonsense.

Added the fu hu gong set into my conditioning. Calisthenics people, this is the good stuff. I think the karate dudes might fukk with this too.

also steve cotter is a beast.

These are from the Tang Sho Dao system of Xingyiquan that places a heavy emphasis on conditioning and sparring, my school ganked this set because they work well.

What part of l.a. Its best to train as close to home as possible to avoid laziness. When place where i train grappling is 5 minutes from where i lift weights.

If you want to learn how to take weapons away from people id say go with Krav Maga. If you want to learn how to fight, you better not take that bullshyt. No one art can make you proficient in everything. This is why people train different arts. There are too many hours involved mastering 1 art. An art that says *we have everything* is lying because if they did, it would take you decades to reach a true master level.
