As Moi and his fight with Ran continued, Ran's motivations are deeper than one would expect. Of course, one in his position would want to die, but given the fact he didn't want to pass the immortality on to his child shows he is a good person just fighting on the wrong side. Still, bringing back his mom wouldn't solve the problem, but as Moi's points out, he would want to see his mom. More than likely, Ran has been such a loner that he isn't Intune with his emotions. Still good team work with Nemu and Momochi allows Moi to stick the rose into Ran, which should have been victory, but sadly this was all part of the plan by Ran's leader.
We are introduced to the Forest Witch Shikimi. Though he is the one who wants to bring back Jura, but why? His idea to wear down Nico's familiars made sense. Though we have never seen Nico use offensive magic. Most of her spells have been more on the support side. I wonder if this is intentional? With Moi getting shot, the only way for Nico to save him was to use Witch Recovery. This is the first spell that Nico showed us and what could mean more to Nico then Moi. What about all of her time with Moi because she loses all the time she had with him? The cruel part is for Moi he realized his feelings for Nico and now this gets thrown at him.
In a weird way, Nico is temporarily safe. Though Shikimi still aims to bring back Jura. For the other warlocks, they were just used and thrown aside by Shikimi. It illustrates the differences between how the familiars are for Nico and Moi because they want to be there for them. The friendship and bond has been forged.
At this point, the series transitions the genres pretty interesting. From a RomCom → Action → Gag Comedy. It also feels very natural with Nico as the centerpiece. I do think consider Moi understanding his feelings for Nico finally really will give him that extra push to get all of her magic and time back. Though I am expecting not until we get past into 220-250 chapter to progress to the next part of the story.
