Just started The Begining After the End since people compared the light novels to Jobless and that may be one of the best stories I've read that in the manga/animation world

Starts off Jobless Reincarnation style so I'm on board until this character gets older and I can see where the real plot is (unless it truly is like Jobless and the story is simply following the MC's life)

Already got separated from his reincarnated parents

Already got blessed by a magical beast

Already ran into a random princess he saved and they want to train him since he's fukking 4-5 years old and already clapping adults with 0 hesitation :dead:

Korean brehs really be out here making webtoons off of already popular manga :laff: there's clearly a war between the two countries about who can adapt these light novels the best
With Manga/Light Novels/Manhwa/Manhua there is so much shameless copying of other works where there is so much stuff where you can be like I read this shyt before. It's even worse when these authors don't even get why the stuff was popular in the first place.

Yea they probably got some super janky copyright laws out there, I see certain brands n shyt in manga and I'm like "I know COTDAMN well nobody at Nike knows these people putting their products in these stories casually"

I probably fukked up making Jobless my first light novel read :wow: shyt feels like I started at the mountaintop already

But to be fair I'd only dive into a light novel if the story has been goated by multiple sources :hubie: I refuse to endure mid LN or manwhas, manga can sometimes get a pass if the world building is good enough

Well, there is some form of quality control with manga. Literally, anyone can make a manhwa and basically the same for light novels. So just diving into a manga you get more assurance.

Tbh I didn't make it past the first part of S2 of MT because of Rudy himself. Not sure if I will or will not give it another shot. Though I did love how top-notch the world building and overall world's story were in S1. Very few can match those areas. Those were easily some of the best in the isekai genre. You have stuff like Bookworm and Re:Zero which people consider of equal quality. The former is more slow paced, but it is much more character focused. Great world building too, but it is much more SoL then MT. Re:Zero I need to give it another try because I remember having mixed feelings about it.

Usually, it's best to wait to watch the anime or read the manga version if you care to read the Light Novel versions. Granted, some anime of Light Novels can be so bad it doesn't give you a good impression at all. :bryan: Mangas usually give you a better idea but the release schedule is so slow for those.

Oh nah breh trust me, all of the things I disliked about Rudy in the anime become afterthoughts extremely quick in the LN :wow: the plot gets so crazy, there were so many epic moments in that shyt I felt like I was reading a legitimately "real" book if you know what I mean.

The main storyline hasn't even been scratched yet in that anime and it's wild to think about, we got years of extreme piff incoming, the dominoes gonna start to fall next season and you'll see a lot of the Pervy Rudy shyt fall to the wayside for a while.

I hated that ED arc so much im glad I read ahead cuz I really was about to bush that show

Desscaras getting asked to handle Ichi is well not her strong suit. Though the pact makes the whole situation harder for her than it needs to be. Gokuraku being the princess's older brother is interesting. She definitely cares for him, but the question is: Does she share the same belief regarding Bakugami? Or it might not be as simple as that. Or she doesn't agree with his actions, but at the end of the day, she loves her brother dearly.

N8SSPd2.png

Akane-banshi Chapter 151: It is clear that Shomei has a similar motivation as Akane. Where is the difference? I assume a hint will be in his performance. He has a very strict professor vibe of coming and everyone is engrossed as he walks in. He really carries a presence.

Tbh this series has found ways to be disturbing and messed up. So I can't say I am 100% surprised it was cannibalism, but man that is so fukked up. His father saw Fubuki's potential and sought anyway to bring it out. Though both of their sacrifice is how Fubuki grew to where he is now.

9jxggCP.png

BboAE9P.png

yd6LCa5.png

Fubuki's character has always been tied to hunger. He was always hungry when he was with Tokiyuki. Siding with Takauji filled him up on power. Man telling this to Tokiyuki now is dirty, but it seems Tokiyuki is ready even despite learning about Fubuki's past.

5XPEtcU.png

Embers - Chapter 8: Takami's size being his main flaw, is very standard. While for Haitani his reaction skills and size make it deadly as a defender. Though he has a long way to go. I do expect that he will struggle and will most likely overthink, which for this game will take away his notable strength. He is definitely a player who needs to learn at a slower, but digestible pace.

Essentially, the Queen got rid of all the other Concubines that the king had. I assume the only reason Lukas remained was because of his strength. Though it is clear that he does not think highly of the king. Though he is aware of Elstri going against his wishes. What Lukas will do from here is interesting.

Witch Watch - Volume 19: Chami makes for a fun and interesting addition. It will be funny her going from being Nico's senpai to her kohai as Nico gets more of her magic back. Her being a summoner witch is interesting. Kind of like Nemu there is more to explore here. Though I love how similar Slump is to Moi. :russ:

Honestly, it is nice to see Kurowa being to move on and will be rehabilitating into being a witch now. You do empathize with her not fully accepting Nico's apology because Nico is the equivalent of a 2nd grader right now, but at least she is aware of what happened. Still, at least it was nice for Kurowa to have some form of conversation with the 16-17 year old Nico.

K9jDBbJ.png

Kind of an insane twist is that the world of Uron Mirage is based on the adventurers that Shiranui-sensei had with, Moi's dad, Nico's mom and Kan's dad. Along with the Kappa familiar, which I don't think any of the current familiars had relations with. It will be interesting to see what the events in the past led to how things are in the present.

rM9xEkj.png

coO0Zf7.png

For the prophecy Nico's mom gave her, it sounds like once Nico gets back to her right age, the plot will progress. Which isn't too surprising.

H1U2Sxp.png

Given Azuki's childhood, it makes more and more sense what she lacked. She was a loner for so long. She just wanted someone to be by herself. Even just a collegue. I wonder if she isn't that close to Mahiru. Though maybe the dynamic works better with Uryu. I do like the way she handled it because he has a lot on his plate, and it really isn't the right time for it. It's better to watch over him alongside Mahiru for now.

FeYlZtD.png

W0Idafj.png

As expected, Rikka is not exactly composed, though I did not expect her to tell Iko she kissed Arisu. Although I get Iko's POV because she loves Arisu, but the idea that only one person can receive his love. It really showcases that Iko isn't someone who likes to deal with conflict. Though this could be something that she can improve on.

b5JOz0e.png

Y57Mkr3.png

Though honestly Arisu taking Rikka & Iko to his house wasn't something I expected, but it does clear up the "you are not going home" comment. The next chapter should be lots of fun.

nx3oQN1.png

qnCcBY2.png

While Shinobu is regretting not kissing. Though it would have been too much of a stretch for her. Nene is the one person focusing on her club and career path. I am getting the sinking feeling more and more of her being Apollo by the chapter with Rikka being a red herring.

Honestly, Witch Watch really looks like the best WSJ series after Akane-banshi at this point. It is a gag comedy first, but when it is time to be serious with the plot it knows how to set the tone. Pacing is prob the only issue since it is a gag comedy.

With the flashback, we got a focus on Kuon and Hibana. More so the point where we have seen these various warlocks, and they were manipulated by Shikimi. Though for Hibana her circumstance was due to evil in society. The feeling of having to hide and you can understand their frustration. I guess from Moi's father's point of wanting their kids to live normal lives. That is one drawback. Clearly, Hibana will be a force in the present.

NHBXoGl.png

CRH8AcI.png

Soji summoned Jeanne d'Arc rather than Jura. Which makes sense given that Shikimi illustrated they couldn't summon Jura. As they need a sacrifice to do that. Still, as he recruits both Hibana and Soji, you're left wondering how long until Nico recovers her magic and they come back. Though what exactly the curse of hearing Jura's name is terrifying. What exactly could that mean? It even makes more sense why the parents are separated from the kids. While we do know the kids are stronger because Nico exists, but the uncertainty of that curse. Hearing that Moi's father is doing his part is heartwarming, but also sad in a way.

With the anime coming out started with vol1 of the manga. Most of Vol 1 is a bit slow, but I really like the build up given to the reveal that happens in chapter 8 that Reiko & Hajime got engaged, but she has no memory of it. There are various hints that could lead to this.

  • Hajime saying "I think Nostalgia is the same thing as love".
  • We have Hajime preferring Reiko's look with the glasses. Assuming that is how she looked this whole time.
  • The habit that Reiko has of eating watermelon and smoking at the same time, Hajime saying that it is nice when someone has a quirk, and it reminds of someone else who has the same quirk. Though interesting enough, does he just consider that Reiko a different person?
  • He doesn't correct the bartender when he calls Reiko his girlfriend.
  • The photo clearly means he is aware what happened to Reiko. But it just makes you wonder why does he work with her. More then likely he is not over his love for her.

Very curious to learn more.

Also caught up with Witch Watch. Honestly, it is the best jump series running right now after Akane-banshi. It is a gag comedy first, but it executes action and romance as well. The build up to the series is very impressive. The reveal that Uron Mirage was based on the mission that Nico's Mom and Moi's dad is interesting. It seems evident we will jump back into the main plot when Nico regains her age. Though I am expecting that to be around chapter 250 or so at most.

After the plot twist from the end of volume 1, it is an interesting idea to show how Hajime's first day working. There are key points that contrast chapter 1, but rather this is what the old Reiko says.

  • She mentions how she will only eat at a particular resturant, which Hajime only eats at.
  • She mentions like he did how Nostaglia is a form of love and also how she loves Kowloon.
  • Though the one difference is that Reiko mentions the city will be teared down.

Reiko befriends Yaomei and her theory of both Reiko's being the same, but the memories aren't there. Which adds up since Reiko has no memories. Though it is clear that she is in love with Hajime. Perhaps love is something that goes beyond memories perhaps? For Hajime having memories can be conflicting for him. Though it is clear she aimed for the earrings to appease Hajime, but things worsen it. At that point, it is clear Hajime is aware that something is not right with the current Reiko. Thankfully, they talk through it and try to move past it.

Reiko's conversation with Dr. Hebinuma and the mention that her wrinkles have no history. It makes sense that someone's facial features are something that evolves. Hers are made a certain way. It's almost like how her memories are made a certain way. At the very least, this throws a bit of a curveball. Reiko should be human, no? At the very least, Dr. Hebinuma comes across as a big a$$hole and big flags of what he actually wants from Reiko.

The first two chapters where they have Hajime visiting Reiko's apartment the most considerable difference in Reiko's personality. Back then she had a much more laid-back cool older girl personality. While now, she has a more girly personality. Though despite that, her apartment looks very much the same. We know humans are creatures of habit, so could it be a scenario where her habits haven't changed. Though the personality difference with the same habits sounds contradictory?

IrFyQAc.jpeg

The big reveal that Gwen is around and what he and Hajime say to Reiko is a lot to take in. Gwen mentions that the old Reiko isn't of this world. Even more heartbreaking is when Hajime says that he hates Reiko. The fact that Hajime mentions that the only person who doesn't know that Reiko isn't the same as the old Reiko is the current Reiko. I am mean the personality difference really show this off. Still, the big question is: How did she become like this? Though when he says that her love for him is an illusion, and it comes from the old Reiko is very heartbreaking.

yXCJSiX.jpeg

Though one thing that is clear is that Hajime still cares for Reiko. After all, he stayed by her side. Even more so, he still has her spare key. After all, just seeing that makes it clear his feelings aren't hate. Or you could say perhaps he hates the old Reiko? Though Reiko refuses Hajime's proposal of learning about the old Reiko is surprising. But it gives her a lesson as dealing of learning this other Reiko it is more important for her to move forward as her own self. Though with her feelings with Hajime and not knowing what happened makes it hard.

FIhGlkj.jpeg

It is quite curious to learn what Miyuki is planning since it is clear that he put out that article that he was adopted. Or could it mean like Reiko, he has an old self and that is why she caught his interest? Though once again he mentions the power of nostalgia is something that can't simply be removed. Which clearly is a major theme in this series as it is both a love and wanting to keep something close to you. It is something you always want to come back to. Though Miyuki's desire for the absolute. Only guess can be that he wishes for a world where everything is as close to perfection as possible?

Catching up to jump titles.

Spy x Family - Chapter 114: It's been a theme since the beginning of the series of hiding identities from each other. Though it's good for Yuri to realize that it is actually him pushing Yor away from him rather than Loid.

Kagurabachi - Chapter 73: It's quite saddening to see how terrible Iori's life became as those rumors circulated. Once again it is Yura being the root cause of many things and this included. For Seiichi you can empathize his fears and Iori being bullied could lead her to commit suicide one day. He made the tough decision at the time, but it was to protect his daughter. Though at least now she is in a much better place mentally.

You really get the sense that Gokuraku's sister truly loves him and vice versa. But the concerning bit is that when she mentions her mothers' death, there is no sadness in her. Though what worsens it is that she confuses her death anniversary with Lord Bakugami's arrival. More than likely, he takes away the negative emotions, so an important tragedy means nothing. But Lord Bakugami helping the people there is a plus. Though these events being on the same day is alarming. At the very least, it does a fantastic job at making us empathize with Gokuraku. In a strange way, he is the perfect compliment to Ichi.

OqCnyGR.png

FVoulVZ.png

AhmpoHo.png

MhlXvga.png

Akane-banshi - Chapter 152: So it seems clear that the thing Shoemi is more picky on is that not everything in a performance will always go as planned. More than likely, Akane never having to adjust what she intended to perform is the next thing she needs to work on.

Fubuki being Tokiyuki's first retainer he picked, will always be someone special to him. As he was the one he wanted to catch up to, and finally, he is able to as he gets him to snap out of it. Though it looks like he returns to Tokiyuki just before his death sadly :mjcry:

0odBp04.png

84y8k7Y.png

Centuria - Chapter 47: Kind of cool to see Lacrima pop off. Showing that while her gift may be a weakness, it stays can be used as an incredible tool.

Catching up with Kai-hen Wizards since it is returning from hiatus soon.

The bit that is most interesting is that evil eyes is something more common on his people. Thus, for the prince it is more of a shock to find in the outside world that it is seen as uncommon. Now that the Prince has awakened the gem, though reducing the weight is rather interesting. It is really cool that each wizard's staff contains these gems and stones. Though there is one final test for the prince.

So the idea of Kowloon holding on to nostalgia being an aspect of the city being rebuilt is an interesting turn. Though the mention of moles and clones not having moles. The creepy part is that Hajime could also be a clone like is quite an interesting turn. If we are to assume that the old Reiko is dead. However, clones don't replicate things like moles, then could this be a case that both Reiko are the same. Could it be possible the idea of a clone, but there is only one copy? The new Reiko replaced the old one. That would support why she doesn't have memories. Although could it be memory loss in general? Though given the interactions with Hajime that seems unlikely. Though Yaomei is turning out to be a great friend for Reiko as even if she is the fake Reiko, she can have her own purpose.

NKW4O7k.jpeg

KKaChj7.jpeg

At least it is clear that Miyuki has no romantic feelings towards Reiko. In fact, the very mystery of her is what has him interesting. Though Hajime is part of it. As the mention of human attachment and it makes sense. Though with Hajime losing the woman he originally he loved and knowing this isn't the same. His actual mental is probably not in a good spot considering how in the flashbacks he seems more active and more emotional. Though in his conversation with Reiko regarding Gene Terra, and it gives a hint that there must be something artificial regarding Kowloon.

iu8x7By.jpeg

pgoS5vC.jpeg

Though more concerning for Reiko is her feelings for Hajime. There is some behavior of hers that seems contradictory. She wants to be her own person, but doesn't want to let go of the old Reiko. Even more so she is infatuated with Hajime. But given he gave the mentioned that he killed the old Reiko and immediately took it back. Though I can't get a suspicon that her death might have an ugly truth to it.
