Mission: Yozakura Family Chapter 228

Man :mjcry:

Kai just admitting that he isn't as strong as Kyo and Taiyo hits deep. It was an actual betrayal, but man just suffered for so long that at some point it just broke him. Truly he was a good dude. Kyo being involved with his families death def is a burden. Though glad Kai isn't holding that against him.

Asa really using the I have power to recruit allies. At the very least there is no heart in the alliance. It does make me wonder of the possibility of Ryu and Hulang being double agents. It never felt Ryu helping Asa was something he was 100% sold on. Also, I came curious of Hulang's friendship with Rei and how much that has an effect on her alliance with Asa.

But Taiyo is fukking pissed. Asa is going to offer his old family back, but like this series has always done he will be looking forward to what he has now rather than what he lost.

Centuria Ch 8

Loved this chapter and how Julian popped off. Julian has always had issues helping others. But seeing how Angvall has helped him so much and what he also has to protect. How Julian can use his power to help others must be satisfying as hell.

Sakamoto Days Ch 168

As expected only Takamura could beat Takamura. Though more questions on how Uzuki's multiple personality disorder works. It makes what triggers it. But how it works is still a mystery, unfortunately. Once again Uzuki is not around, which makes things weird.

JAA is going after Taro, Nagumo and Uzuki. So at the very least this seems to be what the next arc is going for. Where Taro and Nagumo go from here is the real question. Oki seems like a real piece of work. I am curious what Shihiba will do next because he has been shown to be resilient in not following with the order's orders of him.

Akane-Banshi Chapter 112

Things ain't looking good for Makieru. Though the way the chapter ends makes me think he has something up his sleeve. :lupe:

Blue Box Chapter 151

Really like how the focus at the beginning of the chapter highlights Taki's work ethic. Just like how he has improved in badminton, how his relationship with Natsu has been purely by his work ethic. Fits well in this more grounded series.

Dandadan Chapter 155

:mjcry:

Man I got nothing, but respect for the cop. :salute: Literally a rotten person killing a happy mother and daughter because nobody deserves to happy in this world is sickening. The cop could very well have had the same mindset, and be blinded by revenge and suffering. But I love that his daughters thoughts of him stay with him. He will never betray what she thought of him as a cop. So he presses on doing his best. Zuma has a shytty situation, and we can all empathize with him. But the Cop intentions are clearly good.

I got a feeling it's going to get even sadder. :mjcry:

Gokurakugai Chapter

I do like how the chapter shows how observant Ms. Tao is. I figure that once she saw Maki's dead body she's waiting for Alma to come back. Well not surprised shyt hit the fan before Ms. Tao could mention she found with Maki dead.

I am actually really curious how Alma handles the situation. But man this girl beyond mentally ill. :mjlol:

Goze Hotaru Chapter 11

Great chapter. Sango singing only has room for herself. I assume it's very much in her experiences. I wonder if this implies it can be harder to connect to the audience. It's clear she has great talent.

I just loved how Hotaru responded here. It would have been easy to be left behind, but she picked it up. Sango responded vary accordingly. You can tell that the tension between these two girls is now much lighter now. This is a friendship that we know that will benefit and help both of these girls.

The Elusive Samurai Volume 9

As Sadamune chases to kill Tokiyuki. The moment when everything clicks to Sadamune that Tokiyuki was not only Hojo, but of high ranking. This chase really empathizes the relationship between these two. Sadamune was the one always forcing Tokiyuki to be on guard and evolve. Yorishige calling it a parent like relationship might be overstepping it a bit. It's funny when Sadamune thinks he has Tokiyuki figured out, it was in fact Tokiyuki forcing him to fall into habits that he loves. Showing these two having their own extremes that they each love. Before the fight in front of Kamakura, we get a focus on Ashikage and his men. Him figuring out what Tokiyuki and Yorshige wanted to do once again shows his great intellect. One interesting thing to note is how young and eccentric Ashikage's men are. While they are notably older and skilled than the Elusive Warriors, but at the same time they have a fire that Tokiyuki hasn't seen yet.

Here we get a big focus on Kojiro. We see him having a stern talking with Nezu. Apparently Nezu is Kojiro's uncle. The fault clearly lies in Kojiro's legitimate father. Who forced himself on Nezu's sister and refused to help her out. Which resulted in her dying during childbirth. Tokiyuki understands things like that unacceptable going forward. You can tell how much Kojiro respects Nezu because he took care of him and trained when he had nobody. He might be very tough on him, but he is the last connection he has with his sister. He may say it is your fault she died, but obviously he doesn't believe that. Tokiyuki knows it's best to have Kojiro prove his worth to Nezu.

The big fight has 3 key generals that Hojo and Suwa need to be concerned of. The first being Shibukawa, and he is an honorable, but very strong warrior. Much like Yukiyasu he has motivations that increase his ability and motivation. Shaming on his honor is the main thing. Kojiro going to fight Shibukawa in Tokiyuki's caused that anger. On the other spectrum you have Iwamatsu with a different personality who is very Misogynous, as he claims to capture women for his own enjoyment. But what really gets these two going is Magojiro. She essentially toys the battlefield for what will give them them the biggest boost. Motivating Shibukawa and Iwamatsu was one example. Very likely Genba will be the one that will have to match her with trickery.

Ayako and her father really showcase what makes each of them unique. They don't have a specialization as stated before, but they use whatever they can out of their pocket. Ayako as seen before doesn't have a distinct fighting style, but her fighting spirit and strength carries her forward. While her dad will use anything to his advantage. Dead enemies on the battlefield? Why not? We also now got Shibukawa against Tokiyuki and Kojiro. Tokiyuki taunting him is fukking hilarious. :mjlol: But the purpose is simply tiring him out, so the fight between him and Kojiro is manageable. This is an example that thinking outside the box and utilizing his skills to flee to Tokiyuki's advantage.

The Elusive Samurai Volume 10

As the fights continued we got some great moments between the Elusive Warriors. Ayako was able to beat Ishido in the most typical way she would. Ishido giving her his respects was really nice touch at the end. Meanwhile, Mochizuki, Fubiki and the Suwa girls were able to defeat Iwamatsu. It really shows how strong he is that it took so many people to beat him. At least he was aware his life wasn't the most moral. Despite being tired, Shibukawa pulled off some amazing moves against Kojiro. Though Kojiro pulling off a clean vital blow at the end was the deciding factor. A great moment for Kojiro after his humiliating defeat to Shibukawa before.

Afterward we see the reaction in Kyo to the reveal of Tokiyuki. Most interesting that Mima's father saw him in the capital before. Funny enough to remember these two never came face to face in Kyo. I love Kusnoki's reaction to laugh it off. Basically who would have thought he was heir to the shogunate. Sadly, he and Tokiyuki will be enemies going forward, as they had a great dynamic. The most interesting is Mima, who grew quite fond of Tokiyuki. Is it anger for tricking her? Or is the anger because of feelings deep inside realizing who he is? I would guess the former.

Here we are introduced to Uesugi and unlike the others under Ashikaga. He might be the cruelest. Human experimentation just show show awful his morals are. Granted in this era it isn't surprising, but doesn't make that fact any less disturbing. We also see for the first time Imagawa in action. Tbh it's hard to make him out. He can use any horse for optimal performance, but at the same he attacks like an animal. It is safe to say his behavior is much like a horse in nature. The creepy part is him eating his own horses. :gucci: We also got to the reveal that Fubiki is a former Ashikaga. Tbh considering how he got abused by his father, he shouldn't have any love for them. But it's no surprise he was scared to admit this to Tokiyuki. Very much in Tokiyuki's nature he doesn't care about origins. It's the naive part of him that is also his charm. He has this same thing with all his retainers. But you can tell Fubiki having a place to call home means so much to him.

Fubiki's plan in dealing with Imagawa is to use Tokiyuki as bait. He acts like an animal, so bait him like an animal. It's very naturally to be agitated if someone is faster than us and Tokiyuki is the best one to do that. Have Tokiyuki occupy his attention to lower casualties. Then have Genba eliminate Imagawa's resources. Now the time is to eliminate him from the picture, but you get the sense Imagawa has something up his sleeve, perhaps.

The Elusive Samurai Volume 11

Imagawa's backstory was surprisingly sad. He had a horse named Menou, whom he loved dearly. Clearly he was torn apart after Menou died. Ashikaga's conversation was to have him use common horse have abilities like Menou. Unfortunately the means he did that was awful. He would abuse, eat and even suck the brains out of the horses. Clearly he lost his way. But this is a case when someone is being manipulated and here it was Imagawa's love for horses. As Genba mentions Fubiki is hiding talents and might be easily the strongest out of Tokiyuki's retainers.

After Uesugi retreats after Imagawa's retreat, there is a very interesting conversation between Ashikaga and Shiba. Essentially she has high potentially to be on par of those allies that died in battle. His reasoning as she is still young and behaves like a child. At this point it is clear to her that Ashikaga is always thinking forward. It would be interesting to see how she grows as an enemy.

In the final defense Ashikaga's group for Kamakura, we have Ashikaga leading the charge. In a very adult manner he used a debate with Tokiyuki to buy time for a sneak attack so he can use a pincer attack on the Hojo group. Though the conversation between Ashikaga and Tokiyuki really highlighted how different their principles are. Ashikaga was right that Tokiyuki is a child, and it's clear that Yorishige has had an effect on him. But not the way that Ashikaga thinks. Yorishige truly cares for Tokiyuki and while he does offer plan and advice. He still educated him in the right ways to rule and give him an opportunity to grow independently. His journey to Kyo highlights that.

It is ironic for Ashikaga to mention an adult manipulating others. The biggest thing Yorishige taught him was how the emperor rules and Tokiyuki himself declares that as corrupt. It's clear that it is Yorshige suspects Takauji to betray the emperor, but Tokiyuki is one who believes in those under him. Personal trust is something Ashikaga can't comprehend. The passion Tokiyuki burns is too strong and with what Yorishige has taught and should him there is conviction in that passion.

In the sneak attack we get introduced to Hachiro's brother Miura. Miura is a strong leader, but he lacks loyalty. So Tokiyuki's uncle puts into the work to recruit him to their side. Yasuie really showcases how charismatic he can be and him recruiting Miura turns the tide in Tokiyuki's favor as this gives them the push to take back Kamakura. But the joy of serving Tokiyuki is one that all of his followers share. Unfortunately there are things going on that Tokiyuki and Yorishige aren't aware of. In the case that they lost Kamakura, the plan was to kill the Emperor's son. Takauji made it so that he took out his son from aiding his father. At the same time he couldn't risk him aiding the Hojo. Especially with a pure heir like Tokiyuki, his addition would be a tremendous boost. So sadly like Tokiyuki mentions, Takauji will eventually try to overthrow the emperor. So does this indicate a possible alliance with the Emperor and the Hojo in the near future. Or is the Emperor doom to be overthrown before Hojo takes their next move.

But regardless Tokiyuki accomplishes a tremendous goal in retaking Kamakura, and you know how much that means to him. Now I am curious what is the next steps since Takauji's group is a massive threat. Even now that Takauji remembers Tokiyuki finally.

The Elusive Samurai Volume 12

Man talk going from a series of happy events at the end of the last volume to depressing in this one.

So after taking Kamakura the first notable meeting exchange was with Masamune, whom is a legendary swordsmith. To showcase his worth he made a weapon for Shina. As she doesn't have use of her hands, he created a weapon in which she can fully use her leg strength. However, it seems another weapon will be made soon so she will not join the group yet. Him analyzing Ayako and Kojjiro fighting and able to detect what they needed is perfect. Ayako will sacrifice her weapon and herself to protect her lord. So for her a strong and durable weapon is key. The key for Kojiro is that his loyalty is unwavering. Though the difference between their loyalty is how they fight. Kojiro is much more precise.

Sadly not too much rest as Takauji sets out to defeat Tokiyuki even without getting permission from the Emperor. Clearly he seeks more power for himself. To start the assault we see the kind of foe Mima is. Her divine abilities go beyond what any natural disaster can do. Honestly if it wasn't for Shizuku things could have been much worse. You can see the pain Mima was in because she respected Tokiyuki and thought of him as a friend. Sadly she won't realize Tokiyuki views the same to her, which is why he had a mountain of tears when he spoke farewell.

In the fight to start the turn of depressing events the Miura brothers sought out to defend the surprise attack on Kamakura, but Takauji's strength was beyond what they could do. Sadly only one of them can return to their clan. This chapter showcases the presence that Tokiyuki brings to the Hojo. His words of flee to live inspire his men to proceed on and even if it means that Anija's child would be turned to the Ashikaga, if it means the Miura clan can continue. Meanwhile, for the other side once defeat was inevitable it was clear they wanted to end the pain as quickly as possible.

One big noticeable thing is that Takauji has divine power that surpasses Yorishige. The influence of his being able to get numerous of the enemy to just surrender is demoralizing. Fubuki who was a former Ashikaga defected to serve under Ashikaga again seems to be doing so without his will. Seems divine power plays a large factor going forward then I expected. The most brutal chapter is that Yorishige willing to sacrifice himself so Tokiyuki can escape. It truly was a father and son relationship between the two. You can tell how important Yorishige has been to Tokiyuki. But he knows Tokiyuki survival is the biggest priority in a losing battle. Though you can really see the pain that Tokiyuki is in when Yorishige goes ahead without him.

The Elusive Samurai Volume 13

The talk between Tokiyuki and his uncle was great. Instead of lashing at Yorishige's decision stand proud and respect his decision. Tokiyuki is still very young and while it hurts to lose the man who you thought of as a father go. Although him leaving is well in character :mjlol:. The biggest thing is him rescuing Yorishige lives true to the series, flee to live. Being able to be right alongside Yorishige until his death was the best thing he can offer him as thanks. You can tell even more the joy in his eyes now that in his heart that the fact his lord views him as a father figure gives him great joy. The first gift he gives is to Shizuku, so she can see the future. The other is the sword he gives Tokiyuki, which will be a key weapon going forward. This is a sign this will be a really long-running series since this is just the start of Tokiyuki's journey.

On the other spectrum we have Kusnoki, and he remains loyal to the Emperor. Unlike Tokiyuki who is able to flee, Kusunoki can't because the Emperor refuses to flee. It seems the emperor is no longer the man he used to be. Always in hiding and not being committed. We end up with a one on one fight between Takauji and Kusnoki. Knowing Kusnoki's reputation we shouldn't be surprised if he can handle his own in combat. The issue becomes what he said to Tokiyuki when they last talked. His biggest strength is to flee and being creative with his option. Unfortunately his loyalty to the emperor took away that creativity. Sadly he is forced to fight Takauji on his terms. This was a fight he was doomed. Takauji is a character with so many emotions. Outside of being the main antagonist it is hard to really classify him one way or the other. Kusnoki last words to the Emperor and the names he gave his children are indications both will be involved with Tokiyuki going forward. With the Emperor escaping created a situation where there are now two Mikados. One being the true emperor. The other being a puppet for Takauji.

Meanwhile, 2 years later we go see Tokiyuki's group has grown up a little bit. We see Tokiyuki is reunited with his grandmother. It's clear that Tokiyuki's resolve is firm and beating Takauji is his number one priority. There is the angle he can flee to live, but doing that forever doesn't seem realistic. His best course of action is to side whoever is against Takauji. I have to give credit to Tokiyuki for swallowing his pride since his true father's death was the cause of his involvement. It's clear at this point peace can be made here and that is not the case with Takauji who is in his eyes a monster. Kusnoki's last words reach him well, and we can see the Mikado is impressed with his mannerism. Which you have to give credit to Yorishige for that. Meanwhile, Natsu who is basically screwed over by her failure and her abilities without the Tengu dummy is lacking. Genba getting an ally here is a boost he needs to keep up with Shizuku, Ayako and Kojiro.

Spy x Family Chapter 99

This arc is basically summarized how terrible war is and even more so how it separates people apart. Unfortunately Henry can only live with his regrets and even worse how his father forced to marry him off. But imagine the pain he felt thinking that Martha died surviving in the line of duty and even worse realizing his feelings. But in reality we can see that she survived at the end of the chapter. :mjcry:

Man when Endo gets serious with this series his writing is outstanding. Imagine if he got invested writing a darker and serious story then a SoL Comedy.

Akane-Banshi Chapter 113

This chapter really did a great job at showcasing how Makieru has changed since the expulsion incident. Much like Akane he wants to prove that Toru's style of Rakugo was great. He was extremely talented and technical, but stepped up after Toru got expelled. He became someone for the younger Shiguma's apprentices can look up to. But at the same time, really prove that Toru's craft was great. He grew up in both Rakugo and as a person.

Mission: Yozakura Family Chapter 229

Kengo is spot on that Hulang was connected to Asa before she became acquainted with Rei and the Yozakura family. I am curious in the point that Hulang wouldn't betray any of her students. Considering still working for Asa entails I am still curious why she continues to work with him though assuming she knows the truth.

Also, the family purposely having Taiyo to meet Asa was a well-thought-out plan. Though pretty fukked up that Momo is technically alive. Clearly Asa wants to bargain with Taiyo, hopefully he doesn't bite, and he shouldn't

Sakamoto Days Chapter 169

As expected Hana comes first even if Taro has the order coming after him. :pachaha: The new order members seem interesting a gambler and a musician of sorts. Nagumo's disguise is killing me :dead:

Blue Box Chapter 152

Sweet wholesome moment between Natsu and Taki. The ending was great really showcasing that Taki's mom has had his back and giving it her all. She truly is a great mom.

Centuria Chapter 9

The ending part of the chapter gives me bad vibes for what is to come. There def is a threat that can attack outside the forest IMO.

You and I Are Polar Opposites Chapter 56

Great showcase in how far Azuma and Taria has grown. Slowly bit by bit, Taira doesn't want his time with Azuma to end. Azuma now realizing her feelings more and more. Funny part is that despite what you may think, she never has had a proper relationship with any of the guys she has been with.

Dandadan Chapter 156

Man :mjcry: just hearing his daughters word in saving that kid you know that officer is a great man even more. Zuma gaining the power this time to save those that are closest to him and that being the officer. The fact that it was when his life was in danger that he took that step finally really shows how much that man means to him.

Goze Hotaru Chapter 12

Great chapter.

Really nice chapter to wrap up the arc with Sango and Hotaru. Oyuki words of people aren't simple is big advice to Sango. Communication is the key. If you can't open up you can't blame them if you aren't on the same page. Meanwhile, the potential for Hotaru is growing more and more She still has ways to go, but sky seems to be the limit for her.

We really highlight how important Sango and Hotaru will be for each other going forward. As Hotaru was there for Sango, hopefully the vice versa will be true. I do empathize with Sango's mom. Essentially her daughter was born being able to see, you can't blame a mother for worrying. Still she can trust she is on the right path.

Looks like for her third trial, Hotaru will be learning from Otsuki. Curious how she can see unlike the other Goze.

The Elusive Samurai Volume 14

Genba gets his little moment to show that him be innovative can be his way of helping Tokiyuki. No surprise words from Genba won't win Natsu's loyalty. Although Tokiyuki will most likely showcase why Genba follows him. This volume really put the focus on Kitabatake Akie, the Chinfuji Commander in Chief. Despite the pretty face, he possesses a strong intimidating aura. Loyalty and trust are the biggest things for him. He wanted to make sure Tokiyuki can put the bad blood aside to work for the Mikado. But even to work with with the son of the man that killed his family is a tough pill to swallow. But Tokiyiki has grown up these past 4 years. It's clear that this might be the archer that Tokiyuki learn from. Unlike Sadamune he is an ally.

Their next foe is one Tokiyuki has a history with. Useugi and formerly named Magojiro and now called Ienaga. We knew that he had potential, but to take over for Tadayoshi says a lot considering how formidable he is. Akie praising her should be enough information of his growth. In their first encounter with Ineaga, Tokiyuki joining Akie was a big surprise for Ienaga. Though it was a tactical retreat as he has all the motivation for wanting revenge on Tokiyuki. Still so much credit for this small victory goes to Yorishige as he was able to lead suspicon that Tokiyuki died with him made it possible. We also meet Akie's generals. They have a vast of ranging personalities, but given Akie's strength it will be interesting to see them in action. Also, how they compare to Yorishige's generals.

One very interesting thing Ineaga points out is that Moreno has risen in status since taking over the northern court. He simply to put it has a preference on western warriors. Which puts Takayoshi, Ienaga and Useugi group in trouble. Simply put to save Takayoshi rising in the ranks is important for Ienaga. Turning Takauji into the Kanto's puppet is a very interesting play. But given that he is so young, this shouldn't be too hard to imagine. Akie's plan to take the river ended up backfiring as the sulfur hit Akie's men hard. So Ienaga has the advantage so far and forcing a brute force approach out of Akie is very impressive.

First in Ienaga's plan is to have Momonoi fight Ayako. He seems familiar when she fought two years ago, so that should be interesting. Nagao is the 2nd piece, which should match up against Kojiro. But the 3rd being an anti-hojo weapon feels like something that would demoralize morale. Could an important person was captured and wasn't killed, but experimented like Nagao. :lupe:

The Elusive Samurai Volume 15

The start we get a focus on how great at adapting Akiie is. First in Ayako's fight with Momonoi, he helped her get the edge she needed to knock him down the hill. Although he is a big force, so he should be back again. The surprise that Ienaga had for Tokiyuki was that they captured his uncle to demoralize him. This could have been the nail in the coffin as losing even more family would be demoralizing to them. With Kojiro struggling with Nagao it looks like hope is loss. But Shina makes a grand entrance. Her fighting style is enough to get Nagao to back off for Kojiro and Tokiyuki. While strong she struggles in bursts and given her relentless to serve, how Tokiyuki will get the mindset of not willing to die but live will be tricky. Akiie knew to turn the tide of battle he would need to save Tokiyuki's uncle. He offered Genba and Natsu the plan to ride off with Tokiyuki's uncle. It's the simple showcase that in the battlefield time is a factor, but how smart you use your time is key.

When Nitta's son joins the fight with Tokiyuki and Akiie. This unexpected help forces Ienaga to retreat, but he knows someone needs to take the fall. Since he has to, he leaves his ideals and plans to Uesuga. The fact that this motivates Uesuga and drives to do what Ienaga sought out to do just shows how talented Ienaga is and how much Uesuga respects him. This set the stage for Tokiyuki vs Ienaga. This is the first time that we see Tokiyuki uses the sword Yorishige gave him. Onimaru is a heavy sword and Tokiyuki is not using it to his advantage, which results in him taking too many blows. But there is a reason why Yorishige gave him that sword beyond its spiritual attributes. It is the fact even for an elusive samurai that Tokiyuki is, he can deliver deadly blows. Tokiyuki utilizing his elusive techniques to put him in position to strike the killing blow to Ienaga and claim victory to end the fighting. We once again see Tokiyuki take back Kamakura, and hopefully it stays that way this time around.

Now that Tokiyuki has announced himself back in the open, the Mikado uses that to give a scare to Takauji. And boy does it agitate him. As this is the 2nd time he learns that the boy has lived. But will Tokiyuki continue to survive. In order for Kojiro to be able to stand against Nagao, Masamune a new sword. He needs a one arm sword that can deal damage and with that being able to attach to his arm it gives him strength and mobility. The key is for him to get stronger, so he can utilize it's effectively. The real concern is that he will have to fight Fubiki and that is most concerning because he has untapped potential that he hasn't seen.

At the end we have a few moments surrounding Tokiyuki and Shizuku that I really like. The bond between Nitta's kid and Tokiyuki grows more and more. Despite his father being responsible for killing his family and taking Kamakura for the first time, we can see Nitta's son really admires Tokiyuki in many ways. Perhaps Akiie knew that this was a bond and friendship that can work well between the two. It is basically a situation the past is what it is, but looking forward is the way. We also see Shizuku getting concerned about the future. Yorshige being able to deal with the many realities is a tougher task than most would have expected. Tokiyuki when talking with the boy with a high ranking father was don't be scared and face your problems. Which gives light on Shizuku on how to handle her fears of the futures. The future is its own thing, but for now worry about the present and push onward. Although that boy's father being Takauji makes things very interesting going forward.
