Like it's been said many a time - this is the problem when it comes to sports, far too many folk replace logic, reason and common sense with distilled, unsullied, and idealized versions of players and teams from the past, that a proper discussion will never take place. You can't convince someone that the sky is blue if they're wearing rose-colored glasses.
I've been trying to tell people.
The only concrete matchups are the results right now.
That does
not mean, last year's version of either team. It's the teams that are playing right now.
If GS beats the Cavs, then they're better. If GS sweeps the Cavs and continues to blow them out, then they are
much better.
Who would be the winner of this year's GS team vs last year's Cavs team? Nobody knows and we'll never know. That only exists in people's minds and in discussion, that's why it's easy for people to pull shyt out of their ass, introduce hypotheticals and constraints when they argue. The end of the day those discussions fall into one of two categories: it's either you're talking about stuff that happened or what ifs.
The game that exists tomorrow will be played for real. The only thing that matters.
