How much of this flopping can be attributed to the "Anti-woke" movement? Anytime a female lead is used in a sequel, preview, or spinoff, Youtube and social media blows up with videos of triggered fools crying "Woke".

None.

Inflation is kicking people's ass. This has little to do with the movies playing and the general audience being broke and disillusioned with the cost of movies. And then there's streaming.

I hear ya. Money is tight for most people. I just never understood people not seeing the value proposition of going to the movies. I take my family to about 3 movies a year, and I'll go one additional time with just my friends. Its definitely a splurge. While the food and drink there is ridiculously priced, the actual movie tickets are fairly priced. The vast majority of dedicated home theaters don't rival the audio and video you get at one of the newer built or renovated cinemas.

I don't understand how nikkas arrive at every conclusion but the most important one. It has everything to do with the movies playing. The movies have been too bad for too long

There have been successful movies in recent years. If people are interested they will go to the movies to see them. The problem is most times none of these shyts are compelling enough to make people want to leave the house

This was dope:wow: glad I went to see it

What made you say it was dope? :jbhmm:

I found it really uneven

I felt like Furiosa and her mother made a ton of bonehead decisions for people who we were supposed to believe were really strong and intelligent

Dementus had the charisma to lead in a post apocalyptic world but none of the virtue (even as a bad guy) to rally that many people to blindly follow him.

Action scenes full of a ton of CGI and inconsistencies

Etc

Sometime you gotta do it cheap style.

AMC has good discount prices during the early hours up until 3pm. Buy the child tix, they never check. Bring your own snacks and soda. Save a good chunk.

The streaming service really did a number on the theater experience. Nowadays people will wait it out. This felt like a theater experience movie and casuals just don’t care. :francis:

What about Extraction 1 and 2???:dahell:
What about them?

There's a world of difference in being a draw for a Netflix movie vs a theater movie. This has been a conversation in the overall death of the movie star

Will people boot up Netflix to watch Extraction on a Saturday evening? Yes

Will people get into cars and drive to the theater to see Chris Hemsworth without a hammer in his hand? They've proven they won't

If you really wanna see a movie you go to the theater. If you feel it can wait you probably won't. So yes having to wait just a month or two is not a big deal. People just weren't interested like that in Furiosa. They saw the trailers and were like nah, it can wait.

I understand. I wanted to see it but even now I'm like, do I? I kinda regret paying for Planet of the Apes and definitely regret Civil War. I saw Ghostbusters Afterlife (not my decision) totally regret it. Bob Marley, was just ok. But I like going to the movies. Next one is the quiet place prequel which I'm not totally excited about but mom's loves that series so have to take her to that. Lol

We in a different era.

This is a tricky question.

People have problems with the "anti woke" side of the Internet, but there's an inherent overlap stemming from the fact that a lot of people share their complaints but don't want to be seen agreeing with them(understandably so)

The irony of this movie flopping is Mad Max Fury Road started this wave of female characters attempting to replace popular male protagonists. This was a minor complaint when Fury Road was out but it got a pass because the movie was so good

Throughout this past decade we've had multiple attempts at franchises being hijacked by "new strong female" counterparts . That shyt has ruined Star Wars, ruined the MCU, produced a terrible Matrix movie, and on and on. Whenever nikkas express their issues with this they get gaslit with the "Y'all hate women" incels rhetoric. The "anti woke" movement blowing up like it has is a direct response to the gaslighting

I've heard from a lot of people that Furiosa is good. I'll take their word for it. But the issue is the previous decade of crying wolf with all the bad female led vehicles that nikkas were being pressured into liking. Now they've ran everyone away:manny:

Even using the Mad Max name can be seen as a slap in the face when Fury Road was hardly a Max movie and now you have Furiosa with no Max at all. Nikkas ain't going for the bait and switch anymore
