my nikka said krino of all people is this lyrical maven that outclasses lupe in every category of mc'ing...i'm really curious. hes going to have to back this up

I would say Lupe is Picasso. He knows how to paint realistic shyt, he just chose not to.

He instead paint abstract (cus its more fun for him). And for the regular viewer (in Lupes case, listener) it might seam random and even easy to duplicate.
But its layers to it. And a method. For example Picasso's Bull painting. If you had seen just the end result you might just shrug at it.

K-rino on the other hand, while he is an artist and truly a skilled one. He paints with the same style and pallet over and over again.
He is like a renaissance painter. Painting with much detail and skill. But have you ever been to a museum like the Louvre and visited to renaissance sections? Hall after hall with the same motive and same colors.
It becomes boring as fukk. You look and say, yeah thats cool. But it was just the first two three paintings that really grabbed you. Then its just "noise".

While Lupe paints abstract and let the fan decide what he wants the song to be about. Which makes it fun rather then boring as you claim.
But as I said earlier. Just because he paints abstract don't mean he actually have a own message in his head while his painting (making the song).

So just because the rhymes don't seam to follow the same story to you, doesn't mean its not there.

Sure Mural is maybe just a super abstract song with no meaning. But it seam that way because no one have been able to decipher it yet.

And there are songs on the album that is not "all" puzzle rap. Deliver is pretty straight forward but still filled with double meanings, wordplay and layered metaphors while fitting the bigger picture of the album.

Lol ok. But there's a difference in being abstract and effective. Daylight by Aseop Rock is better lyrically than anything on this album and it's very abstract. Slug's whole style is conceptual and metaphorical and he's better than Lupe, he is actually a lyricist that does a poetic abstract style well. I could go on but it's no point.

K-Rino is much better than Lupe, but K-Rino has absolutely nothing to do with the topic. K-Rino is actually hugely multi layered and diverse in his work and is a DRASTICALLY better MC than Lupe, it honestly sounds like K-Rino is a professional and Lupe is an amateur by the huge contrast in the levels. This is about Lupe though not anybody else.

Just cause he has his own message in his head doesn't make it dope. It could make it random bullshyt words thrown together, babies and zebras have their own messages in their heads too, doesn't make it profound.

But once again, I have no issues with anyone enjoying the album, only planned to listen and comment then leave the thread, but people keep replying so have to continue. At least Lupe is better than the likes of Young Thug and trash like that so I don't wanna diss him too much because that should be directed at lessor worse artists, who don't have the potential or history of good songs that Lupe has.

See, nah, that ain't the case, I'm not trying to go to any levels. I just came in and said my piece then was done, I only after replied. Infact I didn't wanna fukk up the party lol, but I didn't wanna lie either. I don't have any personal issues with Lupe and I like numerous Lupe songs, it was just my opinion on this album. I tried to leave this thread numerous times after I said what I wanted to but people replying so of course gonna reply. But my intention isn't to diss Lupe at all, I actually like and respect Lupe. But I have a right to critique an album honestly just like you have the right to praise it. There is no fukk Lupe agenda though, that's my point. I was trying to leave it be, and let those who are enjoying the album just enjoy it, without me saying anything bad about it, I actually left the thread and was done and not going to say any more but people kept replying which made it go on further. At the end of the day, we are all going to have opinion's, it's ok to disagree, it's no beefs and it's not that serious, it's just an honest opinion.

Thing is I like Lupe. nikka got bars per the intro.. But this album is weak. The cool and food and liquor are my fav albums. This shyt sounds nothing like it. I understand evolving but I can't get with this. Still a dope rapper though...

Yeah, there are Lupe songs I fukk with, I feel like he hasn't fulfilled his potential yet but I hope he does, I don't like the path he's on at the moment, but I know he has the potential to make dope music. But he's too hit and miss for me, and I think he has a lot of improving to do as an artist if he wants to be an all time great. But on his day he is a dope lyricist and he also has some interesting and solid political opinions and a social-political perspective which is interesting, I like when Lupe drops content filled songs rather than the puzzle shyt, cause puzzles for puzzles sake isn't dope to me, putting your lyrical ability into content filled work, or even conceptual metaphorical work with an effective message or meaning is what's dope, that's artistry to me, and Lupe has done that in the past, puzzles aren't artistry to me, I feel he also needs to be consistent in his MC'in, particularly in the aspects of delivery, vocal presence and inflections.
