Finally finished 'The Cool'. What a corny album. I had to lower the volume on multiple songs towards the tail end of the album as to not be misconstrued as a fakkit by fellow LA motorists.

Seriously, shame on you guys who stan that album.

Gold Watch, Paris Tokyo & Dumb It Down. And superstar on some radio shyt. Go go gadget isn't bad either but it's not great.

No joke the rest is some of the cheesiest production and awful hooks ever. The way that Santos dude warbles out his words on that song he's on towards the end made my skin crawl. And that Go Baby bullshyt?

Man. I truly cannot fathom thinking this album is even remotely close to a classic. That fukking Snoop song???

Loopy & snoopy. He calls him loopy twice.

I always thought that F&L Advance + Retail was better lyrically than The Cool. I did however enjoy the production on The Cool more. I can play both albums all the way through (I never was a big fan of that High Definition song though).

Hip hop saved my life is okay. A little light but kinda pleasant. The next one not so much. But the bad stuff is REALLY bad and I see people claiming those are some of his best songs.

The worst song on tetsuo is better than the best song on cool. Excluding dots and lines which is a bit sappy but sits nicely in the sequence.

I fux with you Mel but Food & Liquor + The Cool are classics for a lot of us 90's babies :banderas:
Initially a big part of Lupe's appeal was that he was this scrawny lookin, corny mannerism, anime watching nerd that so happened to be an ex dope boy, Kung-fu choppin nikka from the projects put on game by a street boss named Chilly.

That balance :wow:

I know you kids love these albums. You really like the beats and hooks though? It's super lame. Doesn't even sound like hip hop. You'll find better beats on a Tanya Morgan album.

Lupe is from the projects? I always figured he was the rapper that a drug dealer put on to launder cash through.

2006-2007 was the ringtone rap era. I'd take Lupe's shyt over 99% of the shyt getting pumped out by new artist back then.

& Lu was raised in the west side so that gang/drug shyt was a given

Eh. I just wouldn't listen to either. There was still better soundng hip hop beats being made left and right at that time. Check out Brooklynattii by Tanya Morgan. Similar vibe but way better beats. Like waaaaaay better. Of course they didn't have the machine or Argentinian guys singing hooks for them thugh.
