Why is Lupe dissing Kendrick now when he was one of the ones gassing him up when GKMC came out. And during that time Kendrick brought him out on stage in the Chi.

When didnhe switch up and start dissing Kendrick and why?
People used to tweet to him asking his thoughts on Kendrick and he was always a fan until Control dropped. Sometime after there he started this idea that Kendrick was overrated, even though he even gave him props on stage before

After control he liked it but dropped a response

He's also notably a fan of TPAB Ofc

Since like 2016 he keeps tweeting every once in a while talking about Kendrick, responding to people saying Kendrick would best him in a rap beef etc. He's really got a problem with the idea Kendrick is a better rapper than him (which is fine) but he's overcorrected to now where he's basically a fan of Drake simply because he's got this secret beef with Kendrick since control.

Even at one point saying fukking Logic is better than Kendrick

but at the same time he's clearly still a fan

Lupe just jealous because he knows he'd obviously best Kendrick in a 1v1 beef but Kendrick will never take that bait because there's no real reason to, and because of that everyone looks at Kendrick as the top lyricist.

Brother I don't even know what you're trying to do here. I feel like you're just replying out of boredom because half of what you're saying is the kind of disingenuous muddying the waters whataboutism I previously referenced. If you're credited - it's not ghostwriting - and in rap, the core expectations are that your verses are yours. Ironically, even Drake says this in his music - "and I could use a writer just to balance out my flows, but I never share my thoughts this is all a nikka knows" :dead:

Evidently, I'm talking about the current landscape of rapping. By large, rappers don't sing, dance nor play instruments. Besides, all these talking points are a sideshow - we all know rapping ability is the core litmus test for rappers. What are we doing?

Rappers "needing help" to meet consumerism demand is not the conversation nor relevant in this context. I need help to pay my rent - it wouldn't justify breaking civil contracts to do so. I'd end up in jail. Likewise in hip-hop, if you break the mutual understanding and expectations of the genre, you simply won't get the credit you want/covet by a substantial part of the culture/fans - this goes back to me telling why it's not difficult to figure out why Drake seemingly doesn't get credit on thecoli - which was the beginning of our exchange

No one is pounding the table about nothing, the lines are clear - you get exposed for having ghostwriters = XYZ number of people won't regard you highly as a rapper and ABC number of people won't care. You're seemingly the one confused about a simple notion.
My fault fam. I guess I'm confused with the ghostwriting allegations vs actual proof. The songs people claim Drake used reference tracks or someone wrote for him, the writers were given credit.

Lupe isn’t dissing Kendrick. He’s just telling the truth

I don’t think that “jealousy” thing has anything to do with him wishing he had Dot’s career. It’s because around 2013 nikkas started talking like K Dot could out rap him.

Kendrick isn’t an elite lyricist, I think it’s seen as hate cuz Lupe is outright saying it. nikka been saying that for a decade

All good. I mean the use of reference tracks isn't just a claim - some of said reference tracks leaked and they included verses. The writer was interviewed, Drake's peers spoke on it, Majid Jordan spoke of "writing camps" for Drake, and Drake himself admitted it to it "so if you rebuke me for working with someone else on a couple of Vs" . It is what it is.

Just got to hold that and enjoy the success as a good/great "artist" - the music can still be good even if the raps are coming from Cambodia - but all that "credit for the pen/as rapper/goat talk" is over with - with a lot of people, understandably so:yeshrug:
