The audio stream’s almost as long as this album, so here’s the sparknotes:
“You gotta keep constantly revising, rethinking, constantly searching to make sure that the flow and the lyrics are equally impressive, so you don’t just got a bunch of flow, but you’re not saying nothing.”
“The word is gonna mean something or it’s gonna do something and for something. You become a slave to the meaning or the image sometimes, so you gotta be very careful when you pick certain words, because you’ll become a slave to the story that’s gonna get created off of those words. Cause it’ll rhyme, but if it’s not relative to the story that you’re trying to tell, it becomes reachy. Or it’ll take the story in a direction you don’t really want it to go and you’ll kinda do yourself a disservice, especially if you’re really deep into the verse. The more important thing than the rhyme is that it carries the narrative.”
But if you really wanna hear the whole thing yourselves, it’s the 4th post down.

The way he stuffs his lyrics top to bottom with entendres, you already know he's gotta be somewhat meticulous with his word choice. I'm not sure if this tells you all that much about how slaves who became waves comes about, but he's also said in the past that he spends a longer time just thinking of the concept to begin with, rather than the actual writing process described above.
