All because they're cheap.Dallas didn't think Luka was worth the investment.
Not only cheap, but it's hilarious how they didn't think he was worth the investment when he literally has made the franchise 10x the money that a supermax is worth.
The scary/funny thing now is, this will set a precedent where the NBPA is gonna dig its heels in further with any future negotations, because players will make it known they don't wanna have their pockets fukked with just like Luka did. Mavs inadvertently fukked it up for the rest of the league treating Luka like this.
I think everyone can acknowledge AD is still one of the best players in the league, but he's not even remotely on the same level as Luka, and his best years are behind him, whereas Luka is just entering his. You can't just look at this trade in a vacuum for what AD will provide this season, but how's it going to look in 2-3 years time, when AD is basically a defensive role player and Luka will be at the peak of his powers?AD is being severely underrated in wake of this trade.
I'm a let this marinate and watch y'all cook tho
The only way the Mavs make it out of this with any success, is with a championship this season, otherwise, it'll be a catastrophic mistake, in every sense.
