I never said the Lakers struggles were AD’s fault nor am I saying they had everything they needed to win but AD just couldn’t get them there. He had been their best most consistent player for years now

AD is really fukking good. I’m not denying that. But there’s a gap between just being elite and being the best player on a championship team. History shows you need either an MVP caliber player or a ridiculously loaded roster with great coaching

AD hasn't been an unquestioned top 5 player in a few years now

AD is clearly the 5th guy there. Embiid don't even play and even if he does AD is a far better playoff performer in almost every way. AD better in playoffs than Giannis too and more proven than everyone there besides Jokic. Tatum not as good as AD either he just more popular and got a superteam. Wemby will be eventually but not now nah he ain't.

You could do the same for every other Mavs player in that series. Now tell me, Luka exhausted himself on offense when nobody else on the team could score, leaving little in the tank to defend, what was the excuse for all the other players who didn’t need to burn gas on offense?

Yeah this is the ONE thing I agree with Nico on. You put it out there that Luka is on the block and you have to deal with a media frenzy for the rest of the year + an unhappy Luka. It's hard as hell to keep a trade a secret in today's NBA.

In a way I kinda respect a GM cutting bait from a young superstar vs being stuck in purgatory and being held hostage because no one thinks you can trade him.

Or you know, you don't put it out there that Luka is on the block and wait until the offseason before jumping out the window by taking the first offer -- worse yet -- getting haggled down from the original offer when you're the one with the treasure. The fact that Pelinka managed to lowball him on the original trade is even more mindboggling.

There was absolutely no reason for Nico to trade Luka when he did. Luka didn't want out and nobody thought he was on the market.

Seen some comments hinting at the NBA hitting him hard for tanking once again and him selling being the compromise. Could be bullshyt (probably is) but you never know.
