Typically... the star player contributes to that tho. That's the difference.

Your best player is either a great 2 way player, or they play great team defense within the scheme and aren't completely exposed/destroyed and embarrassed like we saw happen to Luka.

Steph Curry isn't necessarily seen as a great defensive player, but he's not a complete liability on defense either. He's also not walking up the floor in the Finals because he didn't get a foul call. Jokic isn't dominating as a rim protector, but he's not blowing coverages or just not playing defense because of being a lazy fukk.

You need complete buy-in from everyone, on both sides of the ball. As good as Luka is, he picks and chooses when to try on defense. It's no different than when we watched prime Harden in HOU.

What have Kyrie and AD done in Luka’s position? You’re talking about what Luka needs to win a title, but neither AD nor Kyrie have been anywhere near the Finals leading a team.

Boston is an all-time great squad, overflowing with talent. They didn’t put the blueprint out to beat Luka. Their team is just that fukking good. You would’ve needed a team like the 2017 Warriors to beat them (multiple high-level perimeter scorers), or a team like the 2023 Nuggets (elite big man with a balanced supporting cast).

The 2024 Mavs weren’t that caliber of team.

Mavs owners (Adelson fam) that bought Mark Cuban's control out are all about casinos, as we know. Despite donating like crazy to Trump and the big guns in Texas legislation, they keep getting denied opening a casino in DFW inside where the new Mavs arena will eventually be in a few years.

So their move is to bottom out and either force their way to Vegas or have the Texas government approve casinos. Feels like they will be the ownership in Vegas and Dallas will get an expansion team or something. Will Mark Cuban then own that new expansion team in Dallas outright again?

Starting to look like this saga will be an interesting documentary in a decade or less.

I don't believe the league would be in a rush to reward them especially when a LeBron ownership group is potentially in the wings for Vegas.
