Conditioning and defense isn't the only issue with Luka. His immaturity with officiating is another thing the organization and his teammates were done with.

Add in that he's hurt and was out of shape while on the cusp of signing that Supermax, they were like, we straight.

You can't defend his antics with the refs. How many times does he ignore getting back on defense because he's arguing about the last play?

Who cares
Talent like that you pay you just made it to the finals

Even with a supermax Luka would only be like 30 or 31when it would be up

Lol at we good. Who cares if the teammates were done with outside of kyrie the roster is ass and everyone could be replaced

When you get a star in the NBA you do whatever you can

On Bill Simmons emergency pod he said he’s hearing that Bron is gonna be traded and Lakers want to reboot. Simmons is clicked in with owners and GMs.

Have we ever seen 2 teams in the same conference, both jockeying for the same position trade superstars with each other? All the wild speculation and straight up fan fiction that gets tossed around and nobody even dreamed of this.

Mavs will be 2K GOAT but I can't trust the leadership of Kyrie and AD.

Are the Lakers doing Magic and Cap pt 2 or is Bron on his way out too? After this shyt you can't dismiss any possibility.

mavericks under pressure to win the Larry O’Brien championship trophy this year or the next one

Win mode activated

Mavs got rid of their best primary ball handler, facilitator and playmaker…now they only have shooters and paint/rim crushers… they don’t have no one who is ball dominant and can set up plays anymore

Bron and Luka won’t have chemistry together because their skillsets and weaknesses don’t complement each other. Both players are primary ballhandling/ball dominant wings who excel at playmaking and running the offense. They thrive when they control the play and when the offense is dependent on them. They feel comfortable to be the one in charge and the straw that stirs the drink.

Both players are poor on defense, Bron because of age and fatigue and Luka because of conditioning and bad habits

Crazy that Bron (1984) is 15 years older than Luka(1999)

Add Reaves into that mix who has the same strengths and weaknesses but is half the player and it’s a weird mismatched fit. Bron and Luka are basketball geniuses so they would figure out something but they will always be stepping on each others toes.

I woulda traded Bron and Reaves before I traded AD and Max. But I guess the NTC and him being 40 might be a hold up:ehh:

Some of y'all are going too far with the AD praise in here. He's a great great player when he's healthy but we're talking about a guy who has a history of missing games and is 31-years old vs. a guy who is 25-years old and at worst a Top 5 player in the league.

Their timelines don't overlap. If AD is the centerpiece of a deal for the Mavs then you need to get more picks/players. It's Luka. Thunder would have asked for way more and received it if it was SGA.
Some nikkas love to overthink and justify shyt

This is one of the most confusing trades in NBA history

I've never seen a franchise player get traded in this fashion

Aruging with the refs isn't even remotely an excuse not to give him the supermax. He just dragged them to the Finals and you're talking about his antics with the refs.

My g, what are you on right now?

He's a top-2/3 player in the league, and a generational superstar. I can't possibly fathom why there's any justification for the Mavs not throwing every damn dollar to keep him. The $345m he stood to earn from the supermax, he would've already made that franchise, multiple times over, and would continue to generate revenue for them for the foreseeable future.

There's no argument to make where he didn't deserve that, not in terms of actual playing ability/impact and his value to the Mavs as a monetary asset.

What could have went wrong in Dallas that fast from just being in the Finals to now trading a guy who arguably is the 2nd best player in the league right now? The conditioning thing doesn't really hold up when he's been there in April and did historic shyt when he has got the chance to have a good squad in the playoffs. Unless he asked out or has some kind of injury the Mavs are fools for this trade. They got two years tops to maximize this window before Kyrie and/or Ad start to decline.
He didn't ask out. Stein confirmed this already
