Ludacris made fun music. That's where the "whole it didn't age well" argument comes from because The Booth is dismissive of that kind of music. Can't say it ain't this board will completely dismiss an artist or song just because it's light hearted in nature.

Then there's the bias. Busta and Luda essentially made the same kind of music, but you got people that wanna place Busta in the category of Nas and Jay. Busta was never viewed as an elite lyricist. He was a dope MC who made fun music no different than Luda.

Then I see someone say Luda was a poor man's Redman. Keeping it 100, Luda had more flows and was more versatile than Redman. Breh could give you a double time flow, slow it down, or whatever. He could hang with Nas on a track and then go and kill a R&B track.

FACT: How many rappers can say they had a song featuring Nas and Jay on the same track on their album?

Good post but Busta had a longer run and made more timeless music than Luda.

A more accurate assessment of Luda's music is:

1) His albums were held back by a lot of filler.

2) He has singles like "Get Back", which was a hit, but wasn't really that great to begin with. It's a lesser version of "Move".

3) He has classic singles, but no albums that really are classic.

And the reason why this board needs to stop with the whole "aged horribly" narrative is that ANYTHING THAT IS NOT CLASSIC WILL AGE HORRIBLY. There is a reason why classics are timeless. If it's not timeless, it has an expiration date by default.

He was a radio host in Atlanta long before he became a rapper. Him and another dude had the top evening show on Atlanta airwaves..he decided to give rap a try and the rest is history.

He can have thought provoking songs when he wants to

Luda cared about his status as an MC too. How do some of you come up with these narratives? There is no "Busta was kind of on the same category". He was in the same category. Both of these days could get on songs with any rapper and kill the feature. Both made fun music with outlandish videos. You are not likely to find either of them listed in a Top 10 list of MC's. They would more likely be in the Top 25-30 range. Nobody's putting a Busta or Luda in a greatest Hip Hop albums list.

Busta made good music breh. He had a series of dope albums, plus he always made tracks on some real hip hop shyt outside of his singles.

Luda cared about being dope on the mic, but not about making grounded hip hop songs. Busta is well regarded and respected as a hip hop legend.

I remember always hearing the “Chris Luva Luva and Poon Daddy” (remix Of the Heavy D song big daddy) on hot 97.5

The same description you applied to Busta can very well be applied to Ludacris. Ludacris has much better album cuts than singles on nearly every one of his albums. The only reason Ludacris isn't as highly regarded as Busta is cause of his lengthy transition into movies. People pretty much forgot how dope he was. That's why they've always been compared because they are very similar. Both are (or were) high energy in your face artists with singles and videos fun singles that always reflected that.

What breh? There are tons of non classic albums that are still dope today.

Most albums aren't classic, but tons of hip hop albums are still dope listens and have aged well. I was about to start naming albums but realized there are way too many. Lol
