Emulators are not 1:1 and the controls will never compete with the original.
If I didn't still have my SNES and N64 with all my favourite old games and had nothing I'd rather spend a mini fortune to get the real hardware and software than a 3rd party bootleg. These games and consoles cost next to nothing.

The society in the Pokemon world is weird because on the surface, it looks like the Pokemon are enslaved. But then you look deeper and realize society is built to make them as comfortable as possible. Urban development only extends but so far so as to preserve their natural habitats. Most science that occurs is to better them right down to discovering new ways for them to evolve. Pokemon battles happen, but Pokemon are allowed to refuse and you can be jailed for abusing them or forcing them to fight. Finally, humans practically worship legendary pokemon like Arceus and Lugia.
The Pokemon have this shyt hooked up pretty good. Probably because if they ever decided to revolt, there's really nothing humans could do to stop them. Mewtwo had some humans piss him off and he nearly drowned the whole world in an evening. Imagine if even one other legendary was with the shyts when he was doing that.
