i moved here from L.A. on business... I live in downtown miami currently

for most, it's a more ideal locale to vacation than live. enjoy the beaches for a few days, then ride out. vegas-esque.

the economy here is not as diversified as tier 1 US cities such as LA, NYC or Chicago, so unless you're a lucrative, stable industry, there are other places for that.

wynwood is cool and definitely has more an L.A. vibe, i'll probably move there once my lease is up here.

work in brickell which is meh to me... the fake illusion of being pomp is too blatant and in your face. nightlife here seems more marked up than beach for what you actually get. a lot of fake flexing in the city.

perspective is important, though. as young professional or young person period with a little bread, miami >>>> most cities in the US. there's definitely a lot to do here with some money to blow. only move here if your paper is correct.

it also isn't as :mjpls: as i thought, but don't sleep. keep it cordial, but keep your wits about you too. i'll 100% be heading to L.A. once my work contract is done, though.

Yeah we don't have problems like ya'll do with Mexicans punking ya'll all the time. Racism is everywhere but most know better in Miami. Their teeth would get knocked out. Hence why you never see a Permit Patty or BBQ Becky like you do in Cali. It's more of a economic racism in Miami.

If I had a choice I'd choose Miami over LA any day. Less crazy traffic, Less expensive housing ,no Messicans, less rules and laws, and more to do. On top of that you have super cheap flights to the Caribbean. No way I could stay in LA when I was in my 20's with everything closing a 2 am.

I really don't think its THAT great of a city. Lets be honest.

You damn near gotta speak Spanish, theres no real culture here, its vain as hell, and theres no real middle class. Jobs are scarce. The economy is transient. All the attractions are weak.

I mean, the weather is alright, but you might as well go to Tampa and be in a way more chill, progressive, up-and-coming environment.

It's true

:yeshrug:

But only if you live there..

Miami is a great city to visit for the weekend

I have no issue with you preferring Miami over L.A., but you may want to stop spreading lies about Mexicans punking Black folks. Most of the shyt you “ hear” about is usually gang related and that has died down exponentially over the years. Contrary to your belief, Mexicans and Blacks do co-exist peacefully. Quite a few Mexicans have Black family members and vice versa. Like anywhere else, if you carry yourself in a respectful manner, then most people will respond in kind.

^^This just came out. This is just one instance of many social dynamics you don’t know about. Dude was/is accepted by his hood and there are many others like him. I wouldn’t dare say race relations is all peaches and cream, but there isn’t any widespread intimidation going on like you think. It’s rather a complicated situation that people in L.A. and So. Cali know and live.

If Miami is for you, then cool.

I know you wouldn't. But I don't know what it's like to go into a neighborhood and people trying fukk me up cuz I'm black. :yeshrug: And it's not all gang related by far. I got family out in LA and the stories they told me wouldn't happen in Miami. Ya'll do get punked more than often though. I mean of course things are always different in areas due to population swing. But I would say it's more racism towards blacks than a peaceful Kumbaya with Messicans and Koreans for that matter.

I've been through out different in cities in Cali. It's a beautiful state, but not worth the money IMO.

Neither city is for me now. I'm in my 40's. I was just saying if a had a choice.

Once again, your perception of race relations in CA is skewed. Yes, there have been incidences of racial strife. But, it isn't as widespread like you think. I am also in my 40s and grew up on the E/S of LB. Never had an issue being intimidated by Latinos. I have also lived in the SG Valley, dated Latinas and been to various areas around Southern California. No issues!

It really comes down to how you carry yourself. I know quite a few Latinos. I work with many of them. My next door neighbors are Latino. No issues. But, if you go around looking for trouble, then best believe you will find it!!

BTW, your relatives may have shared isolated incidences, but they didn't tell you that Latinos also been victims of violence by Black folks. Most of that shyt is street related. The average civilian on both sides aren't getting into it like that. People who tend to not mingle outside of their ethnic group do just that. They stay out of others way.

I just can't let you tell me or others who grew up here how things go. I wouldn't say that Cubans, PRs and So. American Latinos punk Blacks in Miami or Florida. Why? Because I don't know about their politics. I am sure Blacks and non-Blacks either co exist peacefully or segregate peacefully.

Nobody is getting punked on other side! That is the truth whether you wanna believe it or not...

Visited Miami a few years ago for vacation.

If you have serious "fukk you money", I can see the allure. Certain cities do a great job at catering to the rich (LA, SF, NYC, Miami etc) and have numerous businesses, services, neighborhoods etc., that capture those dollars.

A lot of people from northern cold weather cities probably love the idea of sunshine and tropical weather year round.

Being from Dallas, I don't really want to be hot anymore than necessary. Hot weather is not much of a bonus if you grew up being hot half the year.

There are better beaches in Florida...though Miami definitely has the finest women...so there's that.

If money wasn't a thing, I'd probably spend summers in south Florida but go someplace else for fall and winter.

HELL
Any city in a hurricane risk zone is automatically trash.

Miami got the baddest bytches of any city in the country. Can't ever suck for that reason.
All cities have attractive women. You're only going to fukk 0.0001% of the women in a given city anyway.
