they kinda whiffed on the casting choices for some of these characters celebrimbor looks weak af vs how he looked in the shadow of mordor and shadow of war games
I already see the outrage online about the black characters but that's just gatekeeping imo
This show needs to be perfect to change the discourse online imo

His views were flawed and racist to begin with. He was imaging a lily white Europe free of nikkas as if he was there hundreds/thousands of years ago.

If he was being unbiased and objective, his works would have been majority white but, he should have also had characters that were non-white as well because science supports it.
Tolkien described and included dark skinned races/people in his legendarium though. There are black people in MiddleEarth. The problem comes in when these show runners change shyt to fill some diversity quota. If Tolkien is descriptive on how an individual character or people looked, then why are you intentionally changing his work?

A lot of the First Age and Second Age Tolkien material is inspired by Old Norse/Germanic mythology/saga and takes place in the northern/northwest part of Middleearth. The melaninated people are largely located south and far east on the Middle Earth map.

It’s why Gods of Egypt looked so dumb; a bunch of pale cacs with british accents running around hot ass ancient Egypt.

Yea breh but, Germanic tribes lived across Central Europe/Germany which had darkskin people roaming around as recent as 5,000 BC breh. The period where many of these pagan myths that he's basing his stories on sprung into existence via oral stories from said pastoral/tribal/hunter gatherer groups. Now you're right about Nordic European countries like Norway/Sweden/Finland. Its too cold up there. But you can't be talking about Central Europe then acting like there was no diversity there. Tolkien didn't know what he was talking about.

Gods of Egypt looked dumb for similar reasons. Wanting to portray an all-white Egypt instead of what Egyptians showed themselves to be. Primarily Northeast Africans who looked somewhere between Ethiopians/Sudanese people and Middle Easterners. An objective person would have casted a bunch of Boris Kodjoe looking nikkas + full black actors + Middle Eastern actors + a tiny handful of white actors (to represent the small amount of Greeks/Romans there).

Trailer looked mid. I hate how they keep baiting us with these do nothing trailers. If you want to show how the cast looks just send out more set photos.

How do the films from 2000 look better than this shyt that supposedly has 500 mil to work with? And why were half the fukkin people black? I hate this shyt folks do where they have to shoehorn black people in a white mufukkas work instead of having original work for the black people. Middle earth was not racially diverse like that in the silmarillion.
