This. I don't really like Mac Miller, except for a few joints, namely Kool Aid and Frozen Pizza, ironically. :merchant:

Anyways, yeah this a bytch move, and I'm happy so many hip-hop legends/icons are NOT supporting Finesse on this one. Finesse and the DITC crew themselves dodged having to clear samples whenever they could, so this is hypocritical to the max.

Plus, it's a free song on a free mixtape, so I don't see Finesse winning this. On the same token, if he did, it would fukk up the mixtape game forever.

The whole situation reeks of bitterness and jealousy.
His tweets mention something about youtube getting paid from the ads from the video. He said to look at every angle. Still a bytch move.

hes getting ALOT of arm chair advice from fans right now lol

people need to put skills aside, this isnt Lord Finesse vs. Mac Miller in a battle you have to look at the legality of the whole thing. i think were being fair here, but you got these weirdos on facebook and twitter like 'GET EM LORD, TRU SCHOOL HIP HOP'

it aint about that, this is damaging to the ways of old. this isnt hip hop at all

Sad...

Finesse just tryin' to get a check.

How you gonna sue someone for using an instrumental containing a sample you didn't even clear?

Matter fact, Finesse has probably sampled a gang of records he didn't pay to use. I guess it's only wrong when it's "his" shyt bein' used.

I don't like a single solitary Mac Miller song, but Finesse is buggin' for this one.

Yep! Finesse barely cleared a damn thing in his whole career. You think DITC was trying to pay everyone they sampled? Yeah right...

Yes, people getting caught up in Mac vs. Lord or even worse, black vs. white.

It ain't hip-hop to sure each other over music that doesn't really belong to either one of you dudes. Finesse didn't clear the jam, therefore he is being a hypocrite. Both parties have points, and both parties probably made some mistakes, but a 10 mil lawsuit is not the way to go.

and funny thing about this Black vs White thing is this... If it was a black dude in a majority white genre of music who is getting penalized for doing something that the other white artists have been doing for YEARS..people would be crying racism...I just don't like the idea of this shyt at all..it's mad hypocritical...

But they STILL put out mixtapes spittin over other nikkas beats...do u know how many artists should get sued if this Mac Miller shyt actually goes thru?..this is some singling out bullshyt and it ain't right.

Sometimes you have to single somebody out to make an example.

My point was if Finesse had to pay for the samples he used, why should someone be able to freeload off his work?

Reality is, I dont want to hear a bunch of mixtapes with rappers raping the music I grew up on.

I like mixtapes with new beats. I like songs with new beats.

Lupe was borderline wack for remaking TROY. There used to be a rule that if you were going to remake a classic it had to be something next level. Now you got rappers putting out releases where they just skate on a well known beat (Spitta on Verde Terrace) and diminish the value of the original.

I dont want to hear emcee pee pants rap over Shook Ones or whatever. And I have no problem with the artists who created those instrumentals getting paid when money has been generated off their work.

than ur being biased to the new generation...period...cause nikkas been spittin and ripping other peoples beats since forever...shyt aint fair..and Lord Finesse got a bunch of samples that aint been cleared...and the thing I dont like about these new "mixtapes" is that they use majority original material...that shyt aint a mixtape...I could see why u would like it...cause these artists are basically giving out free albums...they pay these producers and put mad work into studio time and all that and they releasing all that shyt for free...of course u like that...but if this shyt goes down...the whole concept of a "mixtape" will fully go out the window...it's already bad enough these shyts is so watered down...this basically puts the nail in the coffin...

That's fine too, but Finesse did NOT pay for all the samples he used. One could argue that he probably didn't pay or even disclose (at least) half of what he used.

I know older cats like Finesse don't want to be labeled haters nowadays but you gotta stop cosigning or giving your blessing to young rappers your not really feeling especially when they start tampering with "your" music.

It's a Free Mixtape. He isn't selling the song....but Finesse talking about suing DatPiff for hosting the mixtape...........

I'm a fan of his from way back but I can't imagine how much he must be hurting for cash to do something like this. Even if there's a settlement it sets a precedence.

People will be coming out the woodwork.

Imagine Hi Tek suing 50 CENT!

Too much money being made in Hip Hop right now by raping the older generation.

If Finesse doesnt cosign Mac Miller using his work he has a right to seek legal recourse.

These "free" mixtapes are promotional tools being used to market upcoming rappers who will go on to make money from endorsements, downloads, online revenue, shows, and albums.

Once you've commercialized the "indy" underground then you have stepped into an area where money is exchanged for services and business rules apply. Finesse has every right to get his cut as long as he paid for the original samples on that beat.
