I almost feel bad for these ladies but it is what it is. I fukk with some women's sports. I fukk with the women's soccer and especially ladies tennis. I like the Olympic sports like gymnastics.

Why would they have a parade tho? Seems like they should have just had a celebration in the stadium, let the fans come through, come on court meet the players, then have the ceremony and then just let everyone party and mingle for a bit.

They don't all be looking like Skylar Diggins-Smith either. In a team sport you're not gonna be able to have different rules for everyone based on their looks.

You have to sell the sport. Without that, there's no credibility. Sell the players playing it. They're doing that.

MLS works to a degree because they appeal to the niche group of soccer fans who wanna see the sport grow domestically. The WNBA has to realize they have a niche group and hope that group grows. Depending on how you grade it, they're doing that. They know more people are watching on TV and know now that having a packed house of 5,000 >>> playing in a cavernous arena where you can tell 10,000 seats are empty. They're a pro league but they almost have to operate like a minor league and as I've told you guys a million times, America doesn't support minor league anything. It doesn't help the league that players will get more love, adulation and most of all, a bigger paycheck overseas. Solving the issue of salaries would help keep the best players in the world here.

Here's a little secret that basketball junkies might frowned at...basketball is an inherently boring sport to watch long term for a casual/semi-casual. Think how many times your casual friends/fam/coli folks say they don't watch the NBA until the playoffs or don't fukk with college ball...and that's the elite men's game! What you think gon happen for the subpar women's game?

The "hook" for the NBA that started in the 80s were these amazing athletes doing unbelieveable things with the ball/their bodies: think Magic with his passing, Bird the magician, Dr. J, then onto MJ, Shaq and Kobe, Lebron etc. People keep coming back for more to see stars do amazing atheltic shyt. That obviously will never be the case with the WNBA so they need a different "hook".

The obvious (for the male audience) would be sexual, I know your go to is "ain't nobody wanna see Griner/studs", but there are plenty of fine women hooping in the league right now/historically but you could never tell. For example this chick Cheyenne Parker look like just another tall, big dyke in her uniform:

The WNBA as it is has a capped ceiling. Nobody should operate as if they’ll break through and be a huge deal. Culturally it’ll never reach that height. What they can do is appeal to their niche group. That niche group ain’t men. You can show all the flapjack titties you want. It’s not gonna appeal to the people they’re trying to appeal to. It’s basic marketing. You don’t have to operate with the goal to appeal to everyone to be successful. If anything that’s how small companies fail, by being overly ambitious.

Their immediate goal should be to figure out how to make their wages comparable to other women’s leagues around the world. Besides that, they’re pretty stable at everything else (sponsorships, TV deals, arenas).

That dollar dries up very quickly once you realize you’re not interested in what they’re actually doing. It doesn’t matter how attractive someone is. You’re not gonna pay money to watch her do something you wouldn’t watch otherwise. It’s like signing up to pay for a science course just because the professor shows cleavage and wears tight clothes. If I’m not interested in science, eventually I’m gonna realize I’m wasting time and money.

The WNBA just can’t market themselves like they’re the XFL or the Lingerie Football League. It just won’t work making basketball secondary.
