Longterm, the lack of good SPORTS games is going to hurt this "next gen"(PS4 & XB1) of gaming

The problem is there isnt any variety in sports games anymore. If you want a game its only one company that makes it, so if you arent a fan of the series you have nowhere else to turn. Also everything is going the realistic route. Sometimes you want a bball game that lets you do redicilous dunks (Where is my next gen NBA Street), a football game with over the top hits and moves, or a baseball game that didnt have you going the whole game with 7 hits. 7 hits is cool at a real game but not when im behind the controller. I wanna be out there smashing homers, stealing bases, and throwing extremely exaggerated pitches.

Sure Run N Gun wasnt realistic but it was fun using the double clutch button to do impossible dunks and layups. Was it realstic that you could juke and spin your way to the endzone at will in them first NFL 2K games, no but it was fun because if you had good stick skills you could embarrass people.

RBI Baseball just came out a couple weeks ago, did you get that? NBA Jam came out a year or two ago too.

And where is Tennis ?????? on any gen ...
and Fight Night ... everybody isnt a fan of UFC ..

What happened to NFL Gameday?

@The_Sheff ... those options appear to only be on the Wii...with Mario ...

Virtua Tennis and Top Spin still get releases on the tennis front. I even have Virtua Tennis on my Vita.

Gameday was great in the late 90s on the original PS1...fell off something fierce once it hit PS2 though.

I'm waiting for a NFL 2k15 comeback to get back into sports gaming. As of late, I couldn't care less about sports games. I bought 2k14 for PS4 and only played it like twice and sold it to my brother.

It's like @iamstr8fire said, cats claim they want the realism, but they really don't. They want "semi" realism.

And Run n Gun was the mufukkin shyt. :lawd:

Read the title and wanted to disagree, but I can't. The only reason I grabbed the 360 initially was due next-gen 2K. That, and TES Oblivion, but 2K was the primary reason I made the jump. Booting up 2K7 with the Lakers for the first time.... :banderas:

This is my entire point. Those games sold systems to many people. And they were being released almost every year.

PS3/360 ate off the anticipation of sports game fans from that era. People were hoping those games and others would continue to evolve, and they either didn't or they were eliminated altogether b/c of exclusive licensing issues. They slowly trickled down now to one game from each sport, and in some cases some sports don't have any at all.

Yeah, these new systems may have sold well straight outta the gate, but I don't see how anyone can argue that it won't affect the bottom line in the longterm b/c you've left out a HUGE section of fans.

If the licenses were cheaper or the price they were then, we'd see them. And EA is largely responsible for the fukkery you speak of.

But Madden is my shyt still tho, and they improved alot, plus I don't play that game offline so all I care about is gameplay improvements

And telling the truth I probably wouldn't buy NFL 2k if it came out, cause I no doubt they online area would be trash, just like they basketball games

baseball was their fault. Because they pulled that shyt with the NFL, 2K got them back by exclusive 3rd party rights for baseball.

college bball was the NCAA's fault for wanting to much for the license like I mentioned earlier.
