What separates "The Show" is it's sheer options on how you can play, it is the first and only sports game that allow you to play on 2 different difficulty levels within the same game. On Def, you can be a rookie and Hitting you can be a HOFer. The wealth of Pitching and hitting models are unsurpassed. You can play this game with just buttons, analog, motion controls, or a variation of all of the above as well as in 3D.
Those are a cool features/options but the gameplay is largely the same. I don't want new control schemes I want some real A.I , some better physics, some more immersing environments, better control of the players ect.

If you look at some of the advances other genres have made in presentation, control, A.I, ect. Sports games as a whole have fallen far behind

I know many of you "real" gamers love to throw sports gamers into the "casual" gamer category like they don't matter, but don't be fooled. Traditionally, sports games have sold many a system over the years. While most of you wait 3-5 years for the next installment of your favorite FPS or action game to come out, many sports gamers are dropping money on their games every year, that's consistent revenue for the gaming industry.....and waiting for sports games keeps a constant buzz & level of excitement going year round. Something that it seems is missing right now for these new systems. Not only that, but once they have a new system, many sports gamers will pick up mass selling games like the Battlefield's, the COD's, the GTA's, etc. But those games alone aren't going to sell them systems.

I think PS3/X360 has had some pretty good sports games, but it's been a letdown overall and has mainly lived off the reputation of the PS2/Xbox. You had so many options and great sports games to choose from during that era.

Now with Madden being trash for an entire generation and the only football option, college football being dead, only one option for baseball, NBA 2K is showing it's flaws, all that's left is soccer and hockey. FIFA is a constant, but it's not gonna sell systems the way a complete rotating catalog of good sports games would. In the long run, I think it's gonna have an effect.

what is your point :ehh:

This is the first year in over ten that I'm debating not getting 2k nor madden when they release later this year.

Keep spinning meach. Mostly everyone is in agreement with Madden these days. That franchise was ass an entire generation.

If EA would take some of the franchise stuff from mlb the show and my player stuff from nba 2k it will feel much fresh and different than the roster updates EA has been releasing yearly.
Not spinning anything. If you want to talk about things most everyone is in agreement with, it's that MLB the show isn't as good as you stans try to make it out to be.

And taking franchise stuff wouldn't alter the core gameplay so if madden is trash now, it will also be trash with more franchise stuff.

Alot of what you mention is already in the Show dawg. You'll claim it as stan bias, but the game is that damn good. Much better realistically than 2K

Not in the 2012 version. If 2013 had some transformative improvements then fine. I have not heard of them.

A couple of staunch supporters of the playstation brand on the coli is the only place I've heard this series being so great.

From my experience its a competent baseball game that is fun without many glaring issues. But So are the other sports titles mentioned in this thread :manny:

Goto OS, you don't even have to take our word for it on here. There's a reason that MLB 2K was gunned up and clapped for an entire gen. You missing out.

lol @ you trying to turn this into a Stan issue.

You really have no shame dog and it's pathetic already.

As far as gameplay changes mlb the show and nba 2K have had several throughout the gen.

MLB The Show:
base running is more fluid than ever. You no longer can just mash a button to get to a base. Timing is more important than ever whenever you are trying to steal a base. You can be a 99 in speed/ability and still get thrown out easily if you have a bad jump. Control how you slide into a base as well.

Picthing improvements have been steadily improved throughout the years.

Different ways you can play is also a big deal. Feels different and can customize everything from what POV you want to use when you are trying to throw the ball and camera behind the pitcher as well.

It's hard to improve on a formula that feels so authentic.

NBA 2K:
When you tip the ball you now get credit for the steal.

When players drive in you no longer have that automatic animation drawing the foul like in the past.

Post moves have been greatly improved down low.

Passes across the court are no longer these automatic steals that were happening last gen.

You have much more control over your dribbling.

Pick and roll moves are more effective.

Legends, my player, create a legend mode are all great modes that have been slowly improving.

Can't really agree with this. People are still gonna buy Madden no matter how minute the changes are year to year. NBA 2K will still sell every year. Same with the NHL and MLB games. We're on an internet forum (in a section devoted to video games, tv, movies, etc.) so I think cats don't realize that the average gamer doesn't have the "concerns" that are brought up here. The average gamer doesn't give a fukk that Madden has no competition. The average gamer plays every COD that comes out so lack of innovation is clearly not a factor in play here. But the most glaring thing here is that both the PS4 and XB1 have already sold in record or near record numbers since launch with only a couple of sports games out. Considering it hasn't even been a year yet (which boggles the mind that nikkas complain about lack of games in that short a time) I can't see how anyone can make a projection on how this gen will be effected based on a "lack of good sports games":manny:

No more college sports games fukking sucks. 2K is the only basketball option until or if EA can get their act together. All we have is Madden for a football fix. Boxing games are few and far between, Tiger is shelved for now, though Golf Club could be decent. Hasn't been any talk of a new Skate or snowboarding game either. What about NBA Street type games?

Then you have the biggest tragedy. No baseball for Xbox owners. Us PS4 owners are blessed with The Show, but no baseball for Xbox is just wrong.

The lack of competition last generation really set a bad standard going forward. Sports games market will never be what it was during the PS2 Xbox 1 days.

This has killed me for years as a person only owning a Xbox 360. Where's the multiple baseball games to choose from? :why: that and EA with the NFL monopoly.. its terrible

This reads like the same list of improvements devs put out every year for every sports title. I'm sure there's a list of improvements to madden I could find that reads similar to these.

At the end of the day though the core gameplay is the same with all these titles. It's not something I'm making up. It's a criticism aimed at these games by a lot of gamers. I

It's fine if you enjoy them, just like madden supporters will tell you how much better the games have gotten. But from a pure gamer/gameplay standpoint they are more stale than most other genres.
