This x1000Two major issues:
1. Lack of competition - No incentive to really innovate in a monopoly. The things that 2K was doing in NFL 2K5 were crazy. The fact that Madden never implemented them (if they did it was well after I stopped buying Madden) is crazy.
2. Realism was taken too far. - I stopped playing NBA 2K because it's too animation dependent. It then becomes a game of animation manipulation. The fact that I can hit X at the top of the key and go into a long un-interruptable layup animation is ridiculous.
Also,
Folks gotta understand that we don't play sports games for hyper-realism. We play to do things that COULD happen if we were in control. For instance, people always bytch about 3 pt shooting in 2K but fukk that... If you're Steph Curry and you're open and I got perfect form, you better make that shyt. The game taking things out of my hands is stupid. If that's how I wanna play let me play like that and let the other team figure out how to stop me.
Games don't even let you max out stats these days. If I want to create a Center with 99 speed, why can't I? The purpose of these games are fun.
Animations in sports games are so far behind other genres its crazy. You never truly feel like you have control of the players cause they are too busy finishing the dumb ass animations.
That's why I still think NFL 2k is the goat sports franchise. They are the only ones that got the controls/animations right. The players went where you wanted them to and the animations did not get in the way of the control you had over the player.
you gotta be kidding. Madden hasn't added anything game changing since 05, actually they removed features then put it back then took it out again and Madden is the worse when it comes to animations. You can get hit backwards 5 yards then another player will hit you forward 8 or more.
Nah they've added stuff. Nothing game changing but they've added just as much as other sports franchises over the years.
