If we're excluding the DJ's like Flash, Herc, then he's definitely in the Top 3.

Run DMC - LL Cool J - and my uncle Kurtis Blow

The Truth
He might have a point

I think he is ONE, but he did do a lot of things first and better than most.

He also was in the movie and TV game just as long as he’s been in rap and did it better than most. He was Def Jam at one point. Was involved in FUBU, had his own TV Shows, etc.

People know him more for being on TV than rap at this point. And LL was about anything he rapped everyone knew it.

Many rappers say dude is arrogant af but can you blame him. He also was the first black man to not die in a horror movie :mjlol:

I was a HUGE LL fan back in they day. People forget a lot of that era he was getting dissed for his corny rap love songs.

"I got some LL Cool J?"
"Nah nah I don't want none of that"

I see you Ice-T :mjlol:

He had a great career though, and is a legit oldschool talent who can murder you free styling. And, he made a great transition to other outlets. But too many other acts have been too important to hip hop, not just talented.

He is right

Even though Melle Mell and Grandmaster Caz were the first prominent Emcees, it was actually LL Cool J who actually defined and laid the groundwork for what an Emcee is by his music, way of dress, persona, lyrics, etc
