But it was actually LL Cool J and the West Coast producers, the "L.A. Posse" on LL Cool J's 1987 "BAD" album.

The beat and cuts and the scratching on the song "Get Down" from LL Cool J's BAD album was NEXT LEVEL. The "The L.A. Posse" killed that sh*t. There's no way Rick Rubin and Russell Simmons come have topped what the L.A. Posse did on LL's BAD album.





The "Do Wop" from the BAD album was the sh*t too. Dope old school sample, dope beat, dope scratching and dope storytelling.

And he might’ve been the first NY MC to establish West Coast ties.
