well you can say that for literally everyone ever

ifs don't count what happened is what happened
Keep in mind you are arguing with someone who has tried to argue that Kobe was better than mike, that Scottie and Rodman were better than anyone Kobe spent any of his peak years with (apparently that was only 2004-2007), and that Shaq was Deandre Jordan status in 2004 while blaming Shaq for the 2004 final. The same poster who thinks Kobe was great in the 2000 finals and wants to discredit LeBron in games 6 and 7 in 2013 as well as basically the entire 2016 finals, yet defends Kobe's game 7 against Boston. Logic doesn't work with this one. I mean he's still using the 2007-08 breakdown of LeBron's skill set for fukks sake.

So did Larry Bird

That doesn't make him better than Jordan in his respective prime and LeBron at the same age they were when entering the league (22/23) was just as good if not better.

The Bucks did pull through in '71 after the addition of Oscar Robertson and it was a great run spearheaded by Kareem, but what happened the next two seasons after that? Are we holding him to the same standard that Bron is held to when he plays bad in the playoffs? Did prime Jordan ever have a run that putrid? No.
Jordan didn't make the finals 9 times. Kareem was in the finals for half of his career. Kareem had a better career at every stage. High school, college and pros.

Don't you think Jordan produced nine seasons worthy of making the NBA FInals though

That's why I say it's just circumstances that he didn't get so and so accolade by comparison. If Scottie Pippen doesn't get knocked out by Bill Laimbeer one minute into the closeout game of the '89 conference finals that they lost by like 9 points, does he make the finals?

If he doesn't decide to retire due to the death of his father and play terrible baseball, then come back out of shape the next year and get embarrassed by the Magic, does he make the finals? Probably.

and while Kareem does have more finals appearances, it's not like him playing better than Jordan was the reason for that.

U MEAN THE CIRCUMSTANCES WHERE MJ PLAYED FOR A TEAM THAT WENT TO 7 GAMES IN THE EASTERN CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS WITHOUT HIM?

No. and if you choose to ignore the circumstances around that, you choose to ignore why Jordan is better than Kareem.
You choose to ignore why Kareem is better. He was better at an earlier age, for a longer period of time. High school. 79-2 record, 3 straight championships. Jordan, couldn't even make his team. College, 3 straight NCAA championships. Jordan, 1, piggybacking off of Sam Perkins and James Worthy. Nba, 6 championships in 10 tries. Jordan didn't even make 10 championships.

That has nothing to do with NBA basketball. Using Jordan not being on varsity for a season isn't an argument against him as the best NBA player of all time.

How many of those championships was Magic the best player on the team. Was there ever a point where you any a shred of doubt as to whether LeBron or Jordan wasn't the best player on their championship teams.

Why do you think Cap made ten championship games, even in 1988 where he played under 30 mpg and averaged 14/6. LeBron and MJ could NEVER average that and their teams still be dominant and yet you're about to count those runs as if it's weighted equally with theirs? The man was well out of his prime when the Lakers hit the apex of their success directly because Magic produced one of the GOAT seasons in league history and took full reigns of the offense. but you're gonna talk about "piggybacking" NCAA championships ok.

It's just really shortsighted to say "Kareem made 10 championships" while not even looking at how they played comparatively or how his team was able to elevate outside of him in order to still win while he produced like a role player.

Players in today's era can only dream of having careers like Russell's or Kareem's. Their respective accomplishments and impact on the game speak for themselves.

Y'all who don't have Russell and Cap in your top 5 have NO UNDERSTANDING of nba history and NO UNDERSTANDING for those who paved the way for players like MJ, Kobe, Duncan, LeBron, and most others. Keep exposing yourselves. :russell:
