Sun, me and you are the same in that regard. I havent been a wayne fan since TBIH / Lights Out which still had me a lil worried. 500 degreez was all I could take, That was one of the hardest pills to swallow musically; I was a hair short of stanning wayne up to that point, not proud of it but its the truth. When that dud 500 dropped I knew it was over for CMR and all that Hotboy shyt And it was clear Wayne couldnt hold it down by himself at that time following the break up and was struggling to find a new identity outside of his HB persona;

He cut the braids offs, changed his cadence and dropped his famous adlibs and sound effects. But what really stood out to me was how content wise, he devolved IMO, Alot of the shyt he was spittin as a 13-16 yr old had more weight to it than the technically flashy kill-a-nikka mob talk seen on the carter series I.E. of the former; "Dirty World", "get it how u live", "fukk the world", "Its up to me", are better than his later songs on those Carter albums. so yeah.. I definitely dont think his career followed a natural progression considering the potential he showed on his earlier albums and group projects with he HBs.

Also about Juvey trying to rap like Nas, It sort of already happened IMO lol,.....................

That 1st verse ....Whew!

This is EXACTLY how I felt. EXACTLY. I briefly got back into Wayne on Dedication 2 which at the time I thought was excellent but that was short lived. Carter 3 being a hyped up dud was when I bailed. Been ignoring Wayne since.

His mid to late 2000s mixtape run is undeniable. The first two Carters were dope too. I even fukk w/ No Ceilings.

His music probably hasn't aged very well, but he had a good run. No point rewriting history.

i've never gotten the wayne hype

dude has some good songs here and there but the majority are wack. he oversaturated himself and his quality fell off

plus his voice can be grating at times

never understood how people put him over juvey

I never really cared for most of his music but I dug the spirit for awhile. Rebirth still a classic in terms of fun music to me. Sometimes I don't know what some fans are expecting from these rappers.
