Again Quality over quanity. Rakim arguably has the best discography

Paid In Full - Classic
Follow The Leader - Classic
Let The Rhythm Hit Em - Classic
Don't Sweat The Technique - Near Classic
The 18th Letter - Near Classic

Countless Classic songs. Rakim sticks to what makes him great and masters instead of being of jack of trades a master of none...which can equate to a lot of sh!tty albums and good albums with filler.

am i the only one who saw his username and then saw the post and made this face :scusthov:

be honest coli brehs :mjpls:

Now hold on there:whoa:Shammago. I promise you this aint no diss thread.

KRS-One was alot of things:
Dope Artist
Great Music
Elite Mic Presence
Dropped mad knowledge

But dude was also a very simple rhymer(which is fine) who always got credit for being an elite or complex rhymer on the level of his comtemporaries.

Rakim
Kool G. Rap
Big Daddy Kane
etc...

Dude wasn't no where near seeing those cats in that category of rhyming.

I bet most would put dude over the likes of Ice Cube or LL Cool J in that category simply based on reputation & subject matter. But I just don't hear it and never have.

:usure: I respectfully disagree with the premise of this thread.

True . . you make a great point

. . but he's also an underrated songwriter. His delivery lacks commercial appeal and because of that I believe is why he gets more credit for being a heavy lyrical rhyming technician when in reality he's a great songwriter with a unique point of view. He could probably be a far greater ghostwriter than even D.O.C.

Solid...one of his better lyrical displays in the last 15 years. But he seems to be chasing the beat a little too much on this song. So the overall performance is :ehh:

Ok, that's fair. Yeah KRS is not the most lyrical all the time but for some cats to say tat he is never lyrical, then I'm like hold on :whoa:

verses & songs full of multis aren't the only thing when it comes to MCing. KRS can do that AND he has unlimited flows AND he has some of the most incredible, unique concept songs AND he is a pioneer of many styles and sub genres AND he is still creating dope music almost 30 years after his debut AND he is an incredible live performer AND he has amazing breath control AND he is the main inspiration to many of the best MC's AND he is a tried & tested battle rapper.

This thread is on point. Enogh respect.

I always felt this way, but didn't want to bother the whole the gay "how old are you" insults.

You ask me Rakim is the most overrated.

Bruh I can't believe you actually said that. Krs-One was profound and great at what he did...but Rakim changed the way people rhymed and the way emcees approached a verse. He turned the fukking game on it's ear my nikka. I'm so appalled right now...he pratically introduced the game to a new type of lyricism. It was him, Kane and G rap really IMO
