Well to end this old and tired discussion, the movie is garbage without Pacino and with him, its nothing but a fun, pulpy cult film...nothing extraordinary or life changing...sorry :flabbynsickfrancis:

I stick by what I said earlier. It's a meh or mediocre movie wrapped around a great performance by Pacino and without hip hop taking hold of it and making it into cult status, it would be a forgotten flick. Still haven't seen the original though and I'm curious as to what they're going to do with the third version but again, Pacino IS this movie because everything else around him is passable at best

Other than the intro music, that Mobb Deep sampled, the the Scarface soundtrack hasn't aged to well imo. Great film though. A few spotty acting performances here and there but the legendary characters, quotes, and scenes makes ita classic
The movie was always overkill to me. True it has a deep roots in hip hop and has been referenced millions of times but as a film its just ok IMO. It sure as hell aint the greatest anything. DePalma was coked up out of his mind when he made this.
Word. It's one great performance wrapped in an average movie and of course it's a cult classic which is fine but it doesn't make it a great movie. It's cultural standing can't be understated though but that doesn't mean it's a great film. I stopped liking Scarface once I turned 18
