The HKL tour was a co-billed tour, but let's not mistake that for being a co-headlined tour. The Eminem/Jay-z tour was, the Watch the Throne tour was, the new "Legends of Summer tour is. The HKL Tour was headlined by Jay and only Jay. Even today I hear nyggas talking about how they heard Jay and X took turns closing the shows, it never happened, ever.

What year did it start? Spring of 1999. You in your own words wanted to keep it 98 and Jay wasn't fukking with X in 98 sales wise, impact, or musically.

As for the tour. The Tour was done to give JayZ's more momentum going into 1999. DMX had 2 homeruns with his albums in 1998 so they wanted to give Jay more light by naming the tour after him. They couldn't go with DMX headlining because his performances were memorable and raw to the point where it would make Jay look like a smalltime nikka because Jay at the times stage presence was weak and him going before DMX wouldn't look good. It was a partnership to give Jay the rub and X went ahead and started headlining with the Ruff Ryders /Cash Money tour shortly thereafter.

It made good business sense and nobody denied Jay did his thing in 1998. Just not bigger than X and records indicate that so keep reaching lil nikka

Tours aren't planned over night, the HKL Tour kicked off in early March of 99 planned around Jay-Z and his success, and it was used to push DMX's sales. Not that he needed any help but the facts are the facts, Jay-Z's tour helped DMX reach tens of thousands of people every night.

That whole part about Jay having to go last because he was the weaker performer is beyond stupid. DMX was a stronger performer then, that is a fact, but to say thats why he wasn't closing the show is asinine, the stronger and more popular performer always closes the show.

Let's also not forget that when Sticky Fingaz released "Jackin for Beats 99" he set it off with "Jigga My Nygga" and said:

"Somebody said you #1 in the streets, thats why I'm coming for you first, jacking your beat..."

The whole industry knew Jay was #1 .

I know it's popular around here but I'm not a moron who likes to throw my 2 cents into every topic, nor do I partake in the gossip, I leave that for nyggas who like to put up over 3000 posts in less then a year. What I do is I look out for new music, participate in a few threads and enjoy the random ignorance on these boards that nyggas like you provide. DMX should be respected for


1.Killing that bullshyt pop movement started by Puff at the time and bringing hip hop back to the streets.

2.Literally coming up the hardway. He didn't get no deal on some Industry Plant shyt like these nikkas today. X went in and killed features left and right along with battling on the streets.

3. Put out songs for the bytches and didn't softened up his sound.

4. Putting out ANOTHER album titled Flesh of My Flesh Blood of My Blood the same exact year and going #1 .

5. Being possibly one of the best stage performers of all time. I seen this cat perform weeks ago and even though many may talk that shyt about him being a crackhead, None of these new cats can light up a stage like X.

Man I watched the Behind The Music Episode on VH1 about X a few months ago.. I knew he was on that crack but I had no idea he was on it before he blew up and during the period when he was the biggest artist in the game
I thought he was on that shyt way later in his career
