I agree that the HKL tour was a Def Jam tour, but that just supports the argument that Jay had a better 98. It stands to reason that the corporate heads at Def Jam were going to name the tour whatever would bring in the most revenue right? The fact that they went with HKL just means that X And Jay's own record label, who would be in a far better position than any of us to make the call - decided Jay had the bigger 98 and would sell more Tix thus makin more money for all of Def Jam.

I think it was named that because the album was newer and also the Hard Knock Life tour made more sense conceptually as the artists could fit under that umbrella where as Jay, for example, wouldnt be as fitting under a Its Dark and Hell is Hot or Flesh of my Flesh, Blood of my Blood tour label. Likewise, Jay is gonna be closing a tour with his album as the name and it also made sense for X to open cuz he gets the crowd hype. It wasnt an indictment like "opening act" may otherwise be nor did it really prove Jay had a bigger 98.
