ECW was really on some purgatory ass, "land of misfit toys" type shyt. It worked at the time, because of the time.

Man I was a senior in high school (1996), and I brought my first ECW VHS to school once. Big Ass Extreme Bash, ordered that from the old paper merch catalog they sent in the mail. This the one that starts with two jobbers rasslin' before Sandman comes in, canes the dog shyt outta everybody, and those "E-C-Dub" chant go flying furiously.

This one bruh talking about, "Maaan...they wrestling for Real in this one!" :mjlol:

there were stretches in 1999 when crash tv went too far but 1998 & 2000 WWF was great

'98 was definitely dope, and still is in hindsight, even tho' I gotta admit, if you watch those Raws from week-to-week, you'll definitely find urself skippin' over a good deal of shyt. 1999 was proof that when something is popular, it can be wack as fukk and people will still love it. The best thing that happened to WWF in '99 was that Smackdown was created and Russo decided to leave. shyt got better almost immediately. That last few months of '99 and all of 2000 and on up to Mania X7 was :blessed:

Now, ECW? I like the talents that made ECW more than I actually like ECW. I always fukked with RVD, The Dudleys, Taz, never liked Dreamer that much but the feud with Raven was dope. Sandman was trash. Sabu was dope. I was fukkin' with Rhino heavy right before they shut down. And of course the luchas who came thru there were puttin' in work. Rest of it, eh.

So ECW, NWO, and the Attitude era were overrated now?:hhh:

And let me guess... the John Cena era ain't as bad as people make it seem. It's as good as any time in wrasslin?

Oh boy:skip:
The cool thing to do is shyt on the AE and praise this bullshyt era, the fact is while the AE matches were sometimes questionable the storylines remain untouchable. What made the AE great was that every wrestler from the opening match to the main event had a story.

ECW was great for its time. Especially for a kid, it was cool to watch. That extreme shyt was new and exciting, and some nikkaz actually thought it was "real" lmao.

My only complaint about it is that THEY MADE HARDCORE TOO COMMONPLACE. Something like going through a table is no big deal at all now. I remember when it was a huge deal, and a match-ender, if a nikka used any foreign object.

One of the most memorable moments from my early WWF days was the Wrestlemania VIII match between Piper and Bret. Piper grabbed the ring bell and held it over his head, like he was gonna hit Bret with it. They milked that moment for all it was worth, and the crowd was going crazy telling him not to do it. As a kid, I thought he was gonna kill Bret with that fukkin thing. He ended up throwing the bell out of the ring, but the threat of him doing that was a huge deal. It's more realistic than nikkas getting hit with sledgehammers, bats, ladders, and all types of shyt, just to come back and win the match.

There is no coming back from this, because we are all desensitized by ECW, and subsequently, the Attitude Era. That desensitization is the number one negative thing about ECW, and not the quality of wrestlers themselves.

one of the most thought of storylines for mark henry is the fact that mae young gave birth to a hang, guy :martin:

val venis was threatened to have his d-ck cut off before the show went off the air :martin:
i don't understand your point
i never said "every" story line was good

i'm sayin the writing was high quality and was good enough to make people tune in every week
there was a little mixture of everything
the writing today is trash and predictable

The Attitude/WCW/ECW era was the shıt & couldn't ever be pulled off again because it fit right along with everything that was going on in the 90's. A lot of barriers were broken & everything became more edgier so it was a breath of fresh air from the more family oriented stuff people were used to. There was South Park, Beavis & Butt-Head, the apex of gangsta rap, the president getting head in the Oval Office & blowing trees, MMA started blowing up giving us real fighting in the mainstream, more cuss words were able to be said on TV, etc. Wrestling fit in right along with that by adopting a little bit of everything going on in pop culture at the time so in order to enjoy it more you would've had to watch it while it happened. As far as the Attitude Era goes, it was great especially coming from it's predecessor of the time of Salvatore Sincere, T.L. Hopper, The Stalker, fake Razor & Diesel, etc but the matches on Raw & SmackDown were too damn short. You go to the bathroom at the beginning of the match & by the time you get done pissing somebody done scored a pin fall. To live through it is to love it.
