My hope is that there was agreement Troy is worth more than a Two-way contract, so they did him the favor to let him walk. He wasn't looking at a ton of minutes regardless, so maybe another opportunity would be better for him. If it was just about guaranteed money while Baker, Hicks and Kornet eat up roster space :francis:
i feel like troy coulda got 20 mins a night with us
he plays hard and we dont have a lot of options

I don't believe any of these free agents will come to NY until I see them holding up Knicks jersey and shaking Fizdale's hand.

But you brehs are out of your minds saying fukk KD. Durant is a real superstar player unlike Jimmy Butler :hhh:
i mean in a perfect world, butler would be our third option
hes a damn good third option
kd is a superstar but he said in his own word that he isn't is a leader.
i'd prefer not to have himhere
He couldnt get the job done in okc with westbrook in a media friendly city with laid back fans

knick fans and media overeact to everything, he needs to just stay in GS and cherry pick until he retires. he can't handle the pressure

That he is, with the ability to be the #2 or even #1 option on some nights. Love his game

But coming off recent injury, nearing 30, Thibs guy, our own luck with former Thibs guys....idk...

Dont think id be comfortable committing to him long term. That, and, paying a third option max money seems kind of unwise :ld:

I prefer they go young if they don't get KD. KD wants to come to NY fukk yeah you let that happen. However, when does shyt like that happen to the Knicks?

Smart move grab some young talent as the second option and unless KD is having high level meets with Knicks staff they need to move on to youth options.

That's where my head was at after watching him rock in Summer League, perfect energy off the bench guy. But I guess they want to get minutes for all of Knox, Hezonja, Dotson and...Lance FML Thomas.

Honestly, Id punt on 2019 and wait on Giannis

If there was one player tho that Id go after without doubt or hesitation it would be Klay but I dont think he leavin GS anytime soon especially for an east coast team

If the price is right, Randle would be nice addition as well

this hezonja guy better be good
we pretty much gave all our money to him
missed out on some decent free agents we coulda targeted
also didn't bring back beast and now troy

If Knox is ahead of the curve as a scorer and Mitch looks like he can legitimately fit next to KP right away...I'd be cool with Butler being the get. Frank/Butler/Knox/Mitch/KP would be a massive line-up with elite defense and plenty of scoring ability. Every superstar has questionmarks. I'd take Durant over everyone but he could be Randy Johnson to the Yankees mentally. Kawhi, the scary thing is his health right now and what's up with that. Kyrie improved defensively last year but it's still not a strong point. Klay is a bit of a sleeper to me, but that's because he's been a third option role since KD arrived. All that said, my stance is as simple as if we can add ANY of 'em for nothing but cap space; I'm giving reps to everyone on the page that signing gets announced.

I get why they targeted him after watching the Summer League and hearing Fiz speak. Hezonja's skillset is good rebounder on the wing, really strong transition player and surprisingly good passing. Fiz wants guys to grab the board and immediately push which plays into every one of those strengths. The thing is, Fiz HAS to get him to improve his shot selection or defense; otherwise there's gonna be a lot of frustrated Knicks fans. It's a bit boom or bust, but worst case scenario it's a one year deal or maybe he becomes a trade deadline chip for a playoff team that needs more scoring.

You care too much about these media narratives.

KD was amazing in the 2012 Finals and they lost it is what it is. KD teams are perennial contenders.

Jimmy is a good player but not a player you’ll win a title with

High usage and a guy who pounds the ball, iffy three point shooter, injury history nearing 30, vocal persona that can lead to locker room tension

He is not worth the money unless your objective is to be a treadmilling playoff team that never gets over the hump
