Also, at this point, I would trade DSJ or Frank and one of the Dallas picks for D'Lo to the Warriors.

That's because I'm not a smart exec.

I actually understand, as @storyteller and others have stated, that the FO is strategically accomplishing a bunch of goals with their current Free Agency signings - Develop youth patiently, sign young guys and see how they fit into a restructured culture and prepare for being players in the next impactful Free Agency.

I understand your point.

I believe they deserve the benefit of the doubt because of the way they've handled the media and players since Scott Perry has taken the helm.

They deserve the benefit of the doubt because Jim Dolan, when he's not involved, has been a non-factor in the respectability of the Rangers - We finally have a similar situation.

They deserve the benefit of the doubt because of how they were able to accomplish getting rid of Timmy and C. Lee to give them flexibility. They did not panic and give away the farm, or offer the farm, for A. Davis.

They made a respectable decision in not leveraging the future on paying 35m for a benched Durant who may or may not come back and earn the rest of his max contract.

We didn't whiff on KD meaning we didn't offer him what he wanted and still got played.

This current front office has not given me a real reason to doubt them. When did they say they would definitely get top free agents? They have maintained a focus on the rebuild. What they are doing has been in line with that.

Dolan blurted our about top free agents and Mills did damage control basically apologizing to fans while they were signing other fa’s:mjlol:

As far as rebuild sure we’ll see about that when Fizdale is playing the veterans over the kids.

I really have no opinion on Perry yet. His FA has been whatever

The bar for us is set so low that some fans on here are going overboard in praise for Perry simply because he hasn’t done anything too stupid yet.

We have no idea if he can construct a team or not yet.

KP's camp floated the idea that he might take the QO and leave the Knicks a good while back before he got traded. I remember because I believed KP at the time; I thought his camp was crazy enough to take the QO, and Phil's tenure gave KP all the justification he needed. I think the rumors came about around the time Kyrie was trying to force his way out of Cleveland, and it seemed like a thinly veiled threat to the Knicks, "trade for Kyrie, or find a way to improve this team quick, or I will likely leave". So knowing that, I don't think the KP rumors are just some pr spin by the Knicks, KP was probably ready to take that QO despite being injured. The Knicks couldn't afford to not get anything for KP, they had to trade him. The Knicks are really paying the cost for Phil Jackson's bs right now...

Found the article that I was talking about:
Brother says Porzingis' extension not assured

"The most important question here is this: What do you really want to achieve in your career?" Janis Porzingis said in an interview in Latvian with Sportacentrs, according to a translation by Eurohoops.net. "Because money -- if Kristaps performs at least on his normal level -- is gonna come. We are more focused on some other values and not just to quickly sign a new contract so we can collect the money. That's definitely not our goal, so we won't be feverishly counting minutes or counting points. You can't escape the reality, and the Knicks must also see that.

"From their point of view, Kristaps is the focal point at the moment, so you cannot upset him much, or otherwise, at the end of the season, he will say, 'It's not so cool here.' The second question is: Who is the New York audience coming to watch now? To a large extent, it's Kristaps. So the organization has to take that into account."

This was before the injury, but Janis basically said KP would walk if things didn't get better without explicitly stating it.

KD & Kyrie going to the Nets will also hurt the Knicks when it comes to fandom. The Knicks are probably going to lose a generation of fans.

I'm going to be 20 in 12 days and while I'm a Knicks fan and some of my friends also are. A lot of my other friends and other young people are NOT Knicks fans.

A lot of young people cheer for the individual player more than the team. Now that KD & Kyrie are Nets, the Nets will gain a whole bunch of fans from young New Yorkers.

They don't care that the Knicks have been here since 1946. They don't care that the Knicks play at MSG. All they care about is that the Knicks haven't won sh!t since Nixon's presidency, the Knicks suck and the Knicks don't have KD & Kyrie...so why cheer for the bummy Knicks?

I can't blame them to be honest. I'm still a Knicks fan till I die but until the Knicks are a consistently good team...I'm going to essentially be a neutral basketball fan. I'll check in to see what the Knicks are doing and I will NEVER cheer for the Nets but I'm not going to be actively investing in this team until they become consistently good. I hope that RJ becomes a star but outside of him...I just feel like this: :yeshrug:
That’s a fact. Barclays is about to be the place to be.

We're really re-litigating KP trade again in here?

I think I was one of the people most against the trade when it went down. But when you look at it objectively and consider everything it was a good trade.

Porzingis is a passive aggressive dirtbag and I'm glad he's gone.

In the past 20 years, the All-Star players the Nets and Knicks have had couldn't be more imbalanced:

Nets: Jason Kidd, Vince Carter, Joe Johnson, Deron Williams, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Kenyon Martin, Richard Jefferson (not an All-Star but he was a stud on the Nets), Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant

Knicks: Carmelo Anthony, Amar'e Stoudemire, Allan Houston, Latrell Sprewell, David Lee, Snake Boy.

Yes, I know that half of those Nets players were either washed or not as good as before but still...the biggest star to play for the Knicks is Melo and no-knees Amar'e. That's pathetic.

We play in New York City and at Madison Square Garden and yet that's not even enough to attract at least SOME star players. The Knicks really are a cursed franchise brehs :francis:.
We never had them guys

We’ve never had that transcendent, athletic wing player I’m hoping Barrett becomes that.

Yes, Dolan said that "we'll have a successful offseason" and basically hinted at the top stars wanting to play in NY.

I don't deny that.

What I don't understand is, where was it said by Mills and Perry that a rebuild with a focus on the youth would take a backseat to signing top stars?

I remember posting about the fact that, considering the youth and inexperience on our team, the Knicks youth would be in serious danger of being traded in exchange for veterans and other stars(AD) if we were to acquire KD/Kyrie. As we see, that's exactly what would have happened. There is no way that after acquiring those stars that Mills/Perry would still be able to say "we are focusing on the youth" when they wouldn't even be on the team.

My perspective, which is absolutely affected by bias and layman thinking, is that all of the moves and signings that we've seen have been in line with what our FO has promised was the trajectory.

Now, if we sign an over 26 year old for more than 4 years and over 18m, that's when shyt will get suspect.

The only thing that happened in the last 24 hours is that the media hype, not at all fed by our FO, is using their own speculation as fuel to shyt on the Knicks for the media equivalent of daps.

fukk 'em.

Dolan owned Rangers have been killing it lately. Proper rebuild and players taking less to be there. Crazy to think these two teams are owned by the same people and play in the same building.

Don't know where we go from here but my only hope is we wake up and be patient.

This is a good thing though. As it stands the team has been ass for quite a while but still make money hand over fist. If sales start slowing down and attendance drops then it’ll force them to try(albeit they are rebuilding now, I think it’s a forced rebuild as they have no other choice) and right the ship. The problem is people will always fukk with the Knicks cause they’re the Knicks, we need everyone to stop going to games.
